New Book - "The Transgender-Industrial Complex" - hoping it wakes up the normies!

You're right. Sigh.

However, I've found that a lot of our conservative "allies" do tend to blame feminism and gays for being the precursors of gender ideology, and I feel that to some extent they're right.

Let me explain: I participated in 2nd Wave US feminism and back then the more extreme feminists were about proving that women were the same as men. So that kind of has led to the idea that men can be women.

And the TQ+ have taken over the LGB movement, hijacking the money, the political machines, the organizational structures of former gay rights lobbies, and so now in the public mind, gays are responsible for TQ+ demands. So the author is right about that too - that the fight for gay rights has led to TQ+ extraordinary and rapid rise (but simply because TQ+ USED gays)

So, yes, this book will probably do damage to feminism and gay rights, and yes, LGB should have fought to drop the TQ+ a very long time ago, but I still hold out hope that the author has exposed some of the machinations behind Trans, Inc. and that expose will reach the public.

And honestly, Abigail Shrier's book, IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE - the only book to really make a public stir about transitioning kids, was also published by conservative press, probably because other publishers wouldn't touch it being that they must be WOKE and all. Shrier is not a liberal, but she is a very valuable ally in some aspects of this struggle.

So whenever anyone complains about feminists especially allying with the right wing, it's because they have to, in the US at least. US Progressives are the ones who have happily sold feminists and gays down the river.

Now, one of us needs to write this type of book from a feminist and/or gay perspective and do it fast.

In addition to Sheila Jeffrey's book, there's Heather Bruskell-Evans' "The Making of the Transgender Child," and a 2020 book called "2+2=5: How the Transgender Craze is Redefining Reality" by Katie Roche that takes a pretty feminist perspective and is available on Amazon. Roche's book has flaws, but it's a decent beginning.

Douglas Murray's "The Madness of Crowds" is terrible on feminism, which he doesn't get, but otherwise pretty good about transgenderism, and since he's gay it could be said it was written from "a gay perspective." He's a UK conservative but an erudite guy who presented his case without maligning Jews and calling for a rollback of gay rights, women's rights and sex education.

IIRC, "When Harry Became Sally," a critique of transgenderism by a conservative guy from the Heritage Foundation, also managed to state the case against this craze and cult without being homophobic or anti-Semitic.

I've always read a lot of work by outspoken, thoughtful gay conservatives like Andrew Sullivan, Bruce Bawer and Tammy Bruce. None of them are anti-Semitic, homophobic or against women's rights like the author of this book and those promoting it appear to be.

I'm not meaning I have a particular problem with Shrier and her book. And as far as I'm aware, she's not making any broader claims about issues with feminism or the gay movement.

Actually, in her public statements and TV appearances that I've seen, Shrier has adamantly said that it's radical feminists who picked up on this movement, saw it for what it was from the get-go, and were the first and only ones to sound the warning bells. She has said everyone should pay attention to what radical feminists have said about transgenderism, coz all we said and all we warned about has come true - and coz radical feminists were the ones who were decrying the sex stereotypes that are gender in the 60s and 70s, and it was radical feminists who invented modern theories and methods of safeguarding children and others who are vulnerable to sex predators and abuse.

Putting this particular book forward as one we need to hand out to our friends to educate the "normies" (OP's word, not mine) is detrimental to many groups, including feminists AND all the many secular conservatives of both sexes and all sexual orientations who are not racist, anti-Semitic crackpots who want to roll back women's rights and send women back to the hearth and kitchen barefoot and pregnant.

I read Shrier's book in early August, and can't remember what - if anything - she said in it about feminism, radical or not. Coz her focus really is on the mental health crisis that's occurring amongst girls & young women for many reasons including transmania, how as result they're being sucked into going trans, the dilemmas and damage this is posing for and causing parents and families, and the extent to which pernicious gender ideology has captured major institutions in our society like public education, medicine, psychotherapy and politics. I get the impression that she twigged to what radical feminists have been saying all along rather late in her research. But that might not be correct. I'll have to dig out her book and check.

The other thing about Peterson is - agree or disagree with him, hate or love him - he does have bona fide credentials in his field, he's long been a teacher/professor and clinical psychotherapist, and he has a demonstrated breadth of knowledge in a variety of subject areas. His speaking out about Bill C-16 and compelled speech might have catapulted him to worldwide fame, but before that he had already produced considerable work and put a whole lot of videos on YouTube.

Whereas the author of this book seems to have come out of nowhere.
