The cause also does not need to be severe you can have no desire for sex if your thyroid is a little out of whack or if you take the pill as a woman.

Also young people these days just put meaning onto words as they feel like it. Its why its so hard to talk to them because for example something that most of us would say "i feel uncomfortable with this" they say "you are invalidating me" or " this is literal violence"

That is why you see stuff like "nonbinary, poly lesbian asexual" in profiles and none of it makes any sense.

a lot of young people saying they are asexual

I've also seen a lot of teens claiming asexuality. True asexuality appears to be very rare. I think a lot of them just haven't hit that stage in puberty where they're actively interested in sex. I also suspect that the unhealthy culture regarding sex that we live in is terrifying for them and they are just not ready for it (which is normal because they're just teens). Like, when kids find porn nowadays it's not a nudie mag hidden under a friend's bed. They're finding choking and BDSM and all kinds of weird kink on the internet long before any proper sex ed class and I think that's a big factor people are missing out on.
