The use of homophobic slurs I think is a brilliant example of this. Yet, like in that scene, I have seen FTM use it to try to upset and insult. Gay guys can’t do this because the insult relies on ostracising on assumed inferiority, which you can’t do to another gay man. If he calls me a f***** - well, so are you. But when then they say it, it means they don’t consider themselves one. Which is it? You are either a gay man - or you’re showing you know you’re not a f***** like the guy your insulting

Gosh, this is brilliant and somehow I never noticed it. You're right. The only reason they "can" use homophobic slurs towards us so much is because, even if they don't admit it, they aren't one of us.

Thanks for making me realize something so obvious.

I don’t think this is generalised to all FTM. I have interacted with soem very sensible ones, but it is definitely a recurring theme.

Yeah, same. I don't wanna stop people from living how they wanna live. It'd be impossible anyway. There will probably always exist people who wanna live as the opposite sex.

For me a good compromise would be creating new labels for it. Maybe consider transpeople a third gender. Maybe create a label (like pansexual) for people that feel attracted to transmen/transwomen. I've met transpeople in life that are fine being seen this way.
