And the transman character later pressures him into sex acts that he is incredibly uncomfortable with... And the audience applauds this in the name of “progress”. I loved this show and stopped watching after this.

Also- wouldn’t she totally be a “dude with a vagina”?

Shameless has been bad for years now.

It was always overrated. I watched the pilot and it made me physically ill to see them try to rationalize pederasty.

That show is a mockery of the original UK version. I couldn’t stand it before, but this just makes it even worse.

The US version is from the same studio who enabled Kirk fucking Cameron to have a career with Growing Pains. From homophobia to homophobia.

Um what?! They actually show that happening? That happens after the linked scene?

[–]loveSloaneSuperDuperBi 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (10 children)

Yeah. The character is named Trevor and she’s basically lgbtumblr in human form, which is annoying already. She pressures Ian (the redhead, a main character) to let her top and Ian doesn’t want to. Ian is a top. They show his relationships often in the show and he is always a top. Trevor is pre op, and before Ian meets the character he tries to have sex with a woman and is entirely turned off and says he’s definitely not into it. But trevor pushes and makes him feel like he’s being closed minded and stuff like that until he gives in. And instead of showing what would’ve realistically happened- Ian enjoys it and continues to bottom for her (they may do both I can’t remember I try to block it out lol).

There’s also that scene that looks like a TRA PSA where all of Trevor’s (mostly straight if I recall) friends have to “educate” Ian about there random ass identities. I can’t tell if the show is serious, pandering, or making fun of them.

Why it is never straight man, who started dating with pre-op TW and TW got him from behind and he enjoyed it?

It is always gays or lesbians, who are ending up with TW or TM.

I think because trans people know that straight people aren't buying anything they're selling, but LGB people are expected to be 'tolerant' of this nonsense because we 'know what it's like' or some shit.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Or because if they will do that to white straight men, their movement will end up really soon, so they are bullying ones who are weaker than them.

[–]8bitgay 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

If you say to straight men/women "you have do date trans people or else you're kicked out of LGBT spaces", they'll say "fine, bye".

If you say the same to gay men/lesbian women, there are chances they'll accept the idea (or at least say they accept it) out of fear of losing some of the few spaces they have.

It works with LGB because they got into our spaces, our events, our circles, and then started kicking us out.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Well, "or you will be fired from job and banned from social media" can work for straight people too.

[–]ExecuteHomophobes 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

It is more of a threat to gays because we literally can't have anything without the T leeching off of us like the parasites they are.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

It is, but I mean in general, why all "T allies" in media, who are not T themselves - are either transing gays or making homosexual people date T of opposite sex? For the same reason that in Iran? Good road going, Stonewall.

[–]ExecuteHomophobes 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

So they can be just as homophobic as fundamentalist Christians without actually being one and while still maintaining the illusion of progressiveness.

[–][deleted] 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Even if it wasn't super shitty to portray a character who only wants to top as giving in to a demand to do something he's not comfortable with, dildoes and strapons are still way different from a real dick. I'm verse but prefer to bottom, and I wouldn't be satisfied with just toys, honestly.

I hope that in the near future people see how wrong this stuff was and call it out. I wonder how this got the ok to be made and aired, even today. It seems surreal.

Also does anyone know if the actors are actually gay, trans, etc? Just curious is all - I have no problem with straight people playing gay characters, but I do wonder if that plays a part in this... thing existing.

I don’t know if the actor who plays Ian is really gay or not, but the actor playing the transman is really a tif

I clicked on the Tumblr and what is with female transmen and non-binaries who have had double mastectomies using shirtless profile photos. I see it so frequently on dating apps and it freaks me out each time. Also, why are they in my pool if they think they’re not women?!

They can 'not be women' until it's convenient to be a woman. Having one's cake and eating it too.

Yeah I don't know why female trans people would try to match with me on dating apps. I clearly state on my profile that I'm a lesbian. Doesn't that invalidate their identity? It's so frustrating that there's zero internal consistency in the trans movement. I never bothered matching with any of them to ask, but maybe I should have.

[–]Rubyredpython 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

It's cause no matter how hard they try, they're still homosexual. We can change words, change meanings, but it won't change the reality of sexual attraction. They're lesbians in denial.

I know lol. I meant don’t they always talk about how we can’t know what genitals someone has and that men can have vaginas and women can have penises? So according to what tras keep saying, she would indeed have been considered a “dude with a vagina” based on her own ideology.

This has been recurring thing in homophobic tv shows for a while now, the "Ignorant cisgay meets a brave and stunning transman who "educates" (read: brainwashes) him and eventually they become a couple" trope. It happened in Faking It (with the same transsexual actor from Shameless), The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, etc. It's a woke form of on-screen conversion therapy.

[–]lovelyspearmintLesbeing a lesbian 18 insightful - 1 fun18 insightful - 0 fun19 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

And the worst part is that they portray it with young people, so the younger generations think that shit is normal for them (hint: it's certainly not and shouldn't be shown as if it is).

[–]8bitgay 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

In Sabrina they didn't even try to educate the gay guy though. The guy was all like "oh but I always knew you were a man".

I think it's even more hilarious because the actress identifies as non-binary. And they don't even try to make her particularly masculine, her post-transition look is pretty much the same as before.

So it's really surreal that this gay guy meets a short-haired girl with a feminine voice, who is portrayed by someone who doesn't even identify as male, and just assumes that she's a man and feels attracted to her. And they always say that you can't assume gender...

We must all bow down to our trans overlords. This shit is getting way, way out of control, but that representation fits their hierarchy of victimhood perfectly. In their view, since the T's have faced more oppression than the gays, its perfectly ok for that woman to call him slurs, suffer no repercussions, and demand an apology for some wordcrime which we all know is violence and literally putting the T's life at risk.

Vomitous. And Christ, this little clip of the whole “LGBTQ” gang will make you want to rip your hair out to make it stop. It was uploaded in 2016 and was apparently not supposed to be parody?!!!

Also this “gay trans man” from the show reminds of this gem: “You think dating is hard? I’m a gay asexual trans* man.” Some people insist on creating their own problems so they can tilt at windmills.

[–]artetolife 10 insightful - 5 fun10 insightful - 4 fun11 insightful - 5 fun -  (3 children)

The clip of the alphabet gang was hilarious. If that happened to me I would wait for them to finish their introductions, excuse myself to go to the bathroom and then leave the building never to speak to any of them again.

That’s the best call. But my back-up option would be to try to remember only one thing each person said about themselves. I would aim for the least helpful and relevant thing to show that I was listening but only enough to annoy them. Like forget names, pronouns, gender, sexuality. I would refer to them as “the Chinese-Mexican yonder.” “The tax law human.” “The mutt who isn’t into hook-ups.” And I would make up pronouns, use them inconsistently, but say them confidently with gusto.

[–]PenseePansyBio-Sex or Bust 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

Well, in my opinion this is the best call! Cuz it fucking gives me life :)

"The tax law human"! LOL all day! I may take inspiration from this and proceed to call such gender-exhibitionists "Snowflake 1", "Snowflake 2", etc.; particularly satisfying because it denies their specialness-fetish and makes 'em just a number. Far more generic than us boring ol' "cis" people, with our commonsense pronouns and whatnot.
