If a homosexual says he or she doesn’t want to bone a trans person because they’re of the opposite sex, does it fall under the sexual orientation protections or is it anti-trans hate speech?

Also, are there any Norwegians here who have insight on what’s going on?

Not Norwegian but my country (Italy) is currently discussing this same bill. It will become illegal to discriminate or hit someone for sexual orientation and gender alone. In fact the sentence will be harsher if it is proven you hate the victim's category.

Our bill keeps the freedom to have an opinion and it looks like so does the Norwegian one.

I suppose I don’t really understand where the line is drawn with hate speech anymore though. It seems very much like disagreeing with a person or raising concerns about proposed policy changes is all it takes for something to be labeled hate speech now. Then, again, I’m coming at this from a very American perspective.

Iceland: passes bill making "nonbinary" legally recognized while simultaneously shitting on intersex people

Iceland: We are the worst "progressive" Nordic country now!

Norway: LOL, HOLD MY FJORD

Imagine getting arrested for concepts that don't exist. Well, biphobia kinda does. But man, how dystopian otherwise. Could you also do this on someone's behalf? Like, imagine I lived in Norway. And for the sake of argument, imagine someone knew I was gay. Could they witness a "homophobic" comment towards me or something, or a percieved one, report it and get that person on trouble on my behalf? Because that would be horrible and I don't ever want my sexuality to be used a weapon against freedom.

The worst so far are "WPATH", today they made a "research", where they are calling intersex people "wild type" and "mutant", and creating there 26 "sexes" based on each disorder: https://twitter.com/dr_pagkalos/status/1325084238220242947

And many western countries are listening to them on transgender cases.

What the FUCK?!

This is unbelievable. "Mutant?!" Conflating "gender identity" with physiology despite that going against the very trans argument in the first place?

Fucking hell. I'm not male because I have a "male gender identity." Quite the opposite, I don't "identify" as anything and I'm more "feminine" according to most standards. I'm male because I have a penis, or, to reword, I am phenotypically male.

There some screenshotes: https://twitter.com/ClareCAIS/status/1326865235253325826

And seems "research" is still on wpath 2020 site, just hidden, and their representatives deleted tweets about it.

Not sure if you can do that in Norway, but in the UK you can get things like that recorded as a 'non-crime hate incident', as I learned from this video I watched yesterday.

[–]Three_oneFourWanted for thought crimes in countless ideologies 13 insightful - 1 fun13 insightful - 0 fun14 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

Oh my gosh. A non-crime hate incident? If it isn't a crime, the government shouldn't keep track of it!

In 1984 none of the "bad" ideas were actually illegal but if someone broke the implied rules the police would come arrest you. Also children were the ones who were taught to keep the adults in line with the state propaganda. Starting to sound a bit too familiar.

It's baffling how people are able to miss how absurd everything has gotten. We are fast approaching a terrible state of affairs, and everyone is letting it happen

It's called the chilling effect and it happens before things 'go to far'. People get scared to lose their jobs or social standings. And become complicit in their silence.

Their inaction becomes the driving force for change. It is a trick as old as time. Think frog in boiling water analogy. It all happens so slowly that most people will not notice. Those that do are on the fringe and told they are imagining things etc. Then it happens to a point where even idiots can see the reality. But they are complicit out of fear of being the next person cancelled or the fear of having to admit that they were wrong kicks in and keeps them quiet as well.

It's the oldest trick in the fucking book. It's so fucking sad.

You can be arrested for private comments?

Norway was doing alright, but now they've completely lost me. Banning free speech is unforgivable, because something bad ALWAYS follows limitations to free speech

[–][deleted] 23 insightful - 1 fun23 insightful - 0 fun24 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Honestly I don't care if people say homophobic things so long as: it's not violent, it's not slander, it's not unprofessional and in the workplace. Like, I don't have to hang out with them if they're a homophobe and a dick about it, and I don't think they're correct and I will tell them so; but I definately don't think it should be illegal.

The amendments ... while also changing its original “homosexual orientation” language to “sexual orientation” to include those under the bisexual umbrella.

Don't really see an issue with that but the trans "gender, gender expression, gender identity"? Yeah. That's questionable, especially on what they consider "transphobia."

[–]fuck_reddit 29 insightful - 4 fun29 insightful - 3 fun30 insightful - 4 fun -  (10 children)

What the hell are they gonna do when a trans person makes a wildly homophobic statement and accuses a gay guy or lesbian of transphobia? Do both parties get punished, neither? Seems like a poorly thought through law on that front lol.

Arrest the gay man or lesbian but the trans person tho? They're free from it because they're obviously the most "oppressed" in the world (despite only having 11 countries having transition illegal).

[–]fuck_reddit 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (5 children)

Yeah, that's (sadly) the clear choice they would make... really shows how the rejection of objective reality allows for the most insane claims about oppression and no one challenges them...

[–]BiHorror 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

Yep, and for a population less than what? 7%? Makes no damn sense. For a group so "oppressed," they sure know how to gain allies and power.

[–]ColoredTwice 10 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 1 fun11 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

7%

You mean 0.7%? In USA that's like 2 millions out of 350? And half are female (transmen), where only minority are vocal.

They'll arrest the gay person. This is a front for the recriminalization of homosexuality, and so are so-called "anti-blasphemy" laws.

As a bi person I am not a fan of this. I want to point out though that homophobic remarkes were already illegal there. How does the community here feel about that? I'm personally against making any speech besides stuff that directly advocates violence illegal.

Not that I think it should be illegal to criticize anyone but Im curious as to why you would want yo criticize anyone for leaving you for any reason. Not saying it doesnt hurt and can be done in immature ways that cause even more hurt.

And people think these countries are 'free'...
