As a heterosexual male who supports the LGB, but not the TQ, I really believe the general public don't differentiate the two unfortunately. TRAs are forcing men & women who are their biological sex to refer to themselves as "cis". Denying that biological sex is real. Forcing people to denounce their SEXUAL orientation for inclusion of people who are "identifying" as a sex, they're biologically not. When you refuse, you have genital "bias" & you're genital "discriminating".

Let that sink in. People are being called "transphobic", "terfs", "bigots" for being their SEXUAL orientation. The TRAs has seriously damaged the LGB, because people just assume that the LGB are in lock step support of all these pronoun changes, etc. I know this isn't the case & hopefully others will too.

and i don't blame them for assuming that all LGB are in lock-step with TQ. I mean, look at the orgs that were created to help LGB - they are the ones now pushing gender ideology. They are the ones putting money into this woowoo bullshit, pushing medical transitioning, sneaking in laws to let male prisoners who identify as women into women's prisons. There needs to be more LGB denouncing this shit bc we really will be dragged down with them when all this implodes.

The problem is that is way easier for TRAs to bully LGB people than straight people. Let's not forget that most LGB spaces have been colonized by the TRAs.

The bright side is that an expressive portion of LGB people are not frequenting such spaces anymore, to the point some TQs are starting to complain about the lack of actual gay man and lesbians in them, so not everything's lost.

yeah for sure. i completely understand that the reason most LGBs don't speak up is because of the harassment, and that our spaces are colonized. just a little frustrated, especially bc we are starting to see the repercussions of this movement we are unfortunately tied to.

This is the inevitable reaction to social justice clerics blaming straight men for literally everything.

Totally objective, dispassionate academic characterization of "dude bros" from the abstract:

White cisgendered males of privilege who express masculinity in entitled, obnoxious, and toxic ways

What could possibly go wrong?

Not only is that the reason why people on the right just dismiss these "studies" but it really does show you how brazen these people are about their bias.

I think even the most full throated TRA shill would read that sentence and be like "Okay, I get it & I agree, but maybe we should take this out it makes us look unprofessional".

And I'll take bets the loss in support is because of LGB. JK!!!!

I think the writing is on the wall: if there are any gay leaders left at what used to be gay organizations they need to speak out and either get TQ + under control, or drop the rest of the Alphabet.

But then the money would dry up for the professional activists making money off of adding every conceivable letter to LGB...

I think this is partly gender ideology, but also partly open hostility to straight men, and just the suppression of non-woke views. I don't think "acceptance" is anywhere near what is being reported. I think people are afraid to speak their mind. As much as I would like acceptance to go up, I think suppression of ideas breeds resentment in large groups, which makes for a far worse problem.

I think I’ve found out problem within seconds of reading the article.

typically young (millennial), straight, white cisgender males of privilege”

When you dismiss a group of people in this way and tell them they’re ‘privileged’ it’s no wonder they might think twice about supporting you.

Also, the researcher included “queer” as a slur when counting anti-lgbt language.. so, it’s offensive when dudebros use it but apparently fine for everyone else? Also ‘no homo’. Which I almost never see being used in an offensive way nowadays.

The original study (though you have to pay to read all of it)

What these idiots seem to forget is that some of these 'dude bros' are gay or bissexual, but closeted.

It's not like this 'mean girl' shit has the potential of alienating them, not at all!

I always read "no homo" as a semi-conscious recognition of the ambiguity around male/male bonding. It's not so much a denunciation of gay men as an acknowledgment that sometimes the line might be finer than society as whole wants to recognize. I'm not saying every straight man is secretly bisexual, just that the world is filled with subterranean tensions under the surface and sometimes straight guys are willing to acknowledge that.
