And yet, Norway (along with Iceland and many other so-called "Progressive" countries) still allows the nonconsensual surgical "fixing" (basically SRS) of intersex infants, which are completely unnecessary cosmetic surgeries that violate bodily autonomy & consent, and also tend to leave people with lifelong health problems.

Even Wikipedia admits this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT_rights_in_Norway#Intersex_rights

Remember: While trans & nonbinary people get privileges, intersex people lack the right to their own body and the right to say no to "sex reassignment" as children. And barely anyone talks about it. Acting like transgender people having to wait for surgery or not being able to change their "legal sex" is a human right violation while these children are being permanently messed up for life. It's disgusting.

Thank you for exposing this. That's sick. Do you have any sense of wtf is going on with the scandi countries that they are so regressive as to intersex conditions?

Lack of education and knowledge I'm guessing. From what I've seen (including lived in one) the issue is that they are just taking a really lazy approach, basically by following what is hot in the US/UK and introducing what they think is "progressive" based on what they're told and without thinking about it.

Some countries like Iceland also have low populations, thus their intersex numbers are going to be low, and maybe they think that there's just so few of them it's not an issue. But then again, low population also equals low trans population, yet they seem enthusiastic about validating "nonbinary" and trans people (Which, let's be honest, are going to make up a TINY few and are most likely going to be immigrants from the US/UK)

It's performative progressiveness when actually I think they're apathetic and only care about making themselves look good. And look at how profitable and trendy trans is - you get money from surgeries, money from pride merch, money from LGBT+ organizations and events, and probably money from things like "changing your legal sex" too. Intersex people? We don't like SRS, we don't have parades, we don't have merch. Giving a shit about our rights simply isn't profitable.

What are the problems with surgery to fix intersex conditions in infants?

It's literally just SRS.

Intersex conditions exist on a genetic level. These "fixing" surgeries try to correct a genetic condition on the outside. Using myself as an example here - I am an intersex guy with an androgynous appearance and many feminine characteristics. If I were to take testosterone and get cosmetic surgery to "be a real man", it would only affect the outside appearance, and it would not magically remove my intersex condition. If I have, say, abnormal chromosomes, testosterone therapy and cosmetic surgery will not make them normal.

And since that these are literal infants, their bodies have not finished developing, so, it's an insane idea in itself to try and "fix" abnormal genitals. Usually what happens is they think they've "fixed" the child with this surgery, but puberty comes and oops suddenly the child is not turning out to be the sex they were "fixed" into and now they're confused and hurt.

Health complications can be all over, I've heard stories of chronic pain, total loss of sexual sensation, difficulty or even inability to urinate, plus if you look at the complications from normal trans "Sex reassignment" you'll probably get a good idea of what can go wrong. Even consensually as an adult, the practice is barbaric and nonsensical and should not be legal.

And so many of those children will be (or rather, would have been) gay.

"Norway has decided to endorse child abuse as stunning and brave"

I'm sure this won't be an unmitigated disaster.
