Did you know kids that before the 2018 flag black people weren’t allowed to be gay /s

Jokes on them, but a black gay pride flag already existed and it had a better design to boot. If I'm not mistaken it was the standard flag but with the black liberation symbol (a black closed fist) on it.

I thought the two stripes were dropped from the original flag because of a color (No turquoise and pink shortage?) of fabric reasons and to cut costs? Not because of “uwu respectability politics” which I’m not even sure was a term at the time (?)

The fabric/dye availability issue was the story I've always heard too

It wasn't a term at the time, although it does describe what a lot of groups were doing. Obsessing over pride flags wasn't a thing either though, so it wasn't about that.

Flags are bussiness and merchandise to sell. That is why big corporations are supporting this all. And transgenderism is big bussiness too, that is why it is supported and controlled by very wealthy people and organizations.

According to Gilbert Baker’s own book, it was because the color was too expensive

The hot pink stripe was dropped because the dye was not readily available, yes. The turquoise stripe was dropped because, when hung vertically from the green lamp posts on Market Street SF, the (then) middle green stripe became obscured, so they settled for 6 stripes. *Another story says that the organizers of the parade wanted to split the flag into two to decorate both sides of the street, which would have been impossible with an odd number of stripes and so they had to remove one of the colors.

But yeah lol, it had nothing to do with "respectability politics", which is just another silly term made up by attention whores to complain about people who just want to live their lives without making a spectacle of themselves.

"Let's make our new pride flag as seizure inducing as possible, because graphic design is our passion"

Pride flag meaning was "include everyone". And this new flag is "Include everyone, but especially transgenders".

people with HIV/AIDS who are part of LGBTQ+ but were unrepresented

So if straight is HIV positive - that straight person is part of LGBTQ+? What a nonsense.

There's a bunch more.

And there like 8 different flags for transgenders, lol.

Given that TERF's are taking away our lesbian flags, this flag was created to include translesbians

LMAO

Special flag for non-binary women who love women but don't want to be called lesbians

Jeez.

Gay male pride for gay males [...] and people who identifying as such

Identifying as gay males but are not gay males? Lol.

If this flag makes no sense, remember how bottom gays are represented in fanfics, it is flag for them

Flag for porn/hentai/fanfic "looking" gays? Says a lot, and then they say "it is not a fetish", lmao.

BDSM flag

So BDSM is part of LGBTQ+ too now?

Straight Cisgender Flag

...so straight people are now LGBTQ+ too?

Does this mean that everyone is LGBTQ+ now? And "LGBTQ+" means just "humans"?

Honestly tho, that "Cisgender flag" is kinda cute. If you know... Self explanatory. Although, I wouldn't mind if straight people did want a flag for themselves.

why are they so obsessed with this stuff??? No-one but people in their weird sexuality/gender club knows what it is or cares anyway.

What's with all the personal opinions from whoever made that. I've never heard anyone disliking the reclaiming of the upside down triangles.

Isn't the fucking point of the rainbow being the most representative "color" possible??

Welp, It's definitely getting uglier.

[–]OPPRESSED_REPTILIANIntersex male | GNC | Don't call me "a gay", "twink" or "queen" 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I thought the pink was dropped because it was too costly and/or difficult to mass-produce flags with pink fabric back in those days, not because it "meant sexuality and magic." Besides aren't progressives all about copious sex and made up "witchcraft" magic bullshit??? I'd imagine they'd be all for that and I'm surprised they haven't yet added a stripe for Brave Stunning Feminist Tumblr Witches.

Either way, both are stupid. Either it was changed because capitalism or because people are sensitive fuckwits. Or maybe both.

Fuck Pride, fuck the rainbow flags, it's capitalist first world hipster bullshit all the way down.

Daniel Quasar? Daniel Quisling is more like it. I will burn that homophobic imperialist travesty of a flag along with the trans flag for all the homophobia and sexism they both embody and enable.
