Calling bullshit on his claims about his friend being raped because of his asexuality, also.

The reason why corrective rape is often used for a method of conversion therapy against homosexuals (I dunno if it's a practice that is performed upon bisexuals, but do tell me if it is!) is because the people who utilise such methods deem homosexual desires or thoughts to be repulsive and that homosexual individuals must be taught a lesson. It is because of their same-sex attraction. Nothing more.

No, corrective rape of asexuals happens. It's not just about eliminating homosexual desires, it's about implanting "good" sexual behavior, the kind that naturally come with social gender roles. It's a mistake to downplay how much society expects this, and how angry people get at someone different. Heck, some people can accept homosexuals because they still perform sexually, just "wired a bit wrong" in an endearing way, but see asexuals as truly damaged and abnormal because a total lack of sex is unthinkable unless there's a serious, serious problem.

A reserved girl who doesn't have sex is seen as a frigid bitch who thinks she's better than men and who needs to be taught a lesson so she can be more "fun". An outgoing girl who doesn't have sex is seen as a tease, a waste, and is asking for it, so she needs to be opened up to get her "on the market".

A guy who doesn't have sex is seen as just pathologically shy or immature, and needs to be shown first-hand sex to get him out of his shell so that he can finally enjoy that awesome part life he's been missing that everyone else is doing.

I don't drink alcohol, and you'd be amazed at how much people push me to try some every time I go out. The pressure is constant because not-drinking is seen as perverse, comments like "how do you have any fun, though?" are frequent, and assumptions that there must be something seriously wrong with me abound. It gets to the point of harassment sometimes with people trying to get me to "loosen up" and I have to rudely snap at people to get them to shut up. I've lost track of how many times I've been handed a drink that clearly has alcohol in it when I've asked for something else. (Like I can't tell?!)

I absolutely believe this is similar to the asexual experience. One of the things I don't like on this sub is the dismissal of asexuals. They've got real problems. Not precisely the same as LGB, but I'd honestly expect a bit more empathy.

I strongly apologise for my dismissal of their experiences. I should've been more considerate. I'll delete that comment.
