I have a negative opinion of furries, and this post has done nothing to alleviate this opinion.

Some of us are decent people!

You people really, and I mean really need to clean house.

At this point I think non-sexual furries should just invent a new name for themselves

[–]Shadow_Lurker 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

The problem is that since it's inception this whole furry thing was about sex, no kidding.

The first furry books published were erotica, so scrubbing away the sexualized stuff to sanitize the fandom will end up like what is happening currently with drag culture: it will be just for show.

I think adults need to play more. Not like sexual play - I mean actual play. Swinging on a swing at a playground is fucking fun! Climbing trees is fun! Pretend is fun! Being unserious and going wild with imagination in a totally unconstrained way is really fun.

I don't find dressing up as an animal to be appealing in any way, but I can see how people might find it fun.

But why does it always have to be about sex? Why do adults tend to play only if sex is involved? (Aside from board games I guess.)

Seriously, what's up with that? I genuinely want to know.

Sex is great. But I don't understand why sex should be the only way to play and why this sexual play should be a public identity rather than a personal activity.

Sexual activities shouldn't be anybody's identity.

Well, with e-sports getting more popular in the last decades the whole concept of non-sexual adult entertainment is also becoming more widespread, which is great!

Sex is great. But I don't understand why sex should be the only way to play and why this sexual play should be a public identity rather than a personal activity.

It's simple: non-sexual adult play is seen as childish even today by many people. It's not a coincidence that most people conflate sex with being an adult, or maturity itself..

You're right. And that reminds me of a quote by C.S. Lewis:

When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.

I mean, what about like... Disneyland characters, sports mascots, outfits like that? I guess those are all basically paid actors, but there do exist people who dress up in animal suits for non sexual reasons

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Why would I be a non-sexual furry, tho? Do you find the bad thing about being a furry is the sexual part of it?

[–]DifferentAirGC 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Yes.

[–]QueenBread 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Well, I respect that. But if other people like it, why oppose that? It's a bit like gay males, right? Straight males have a right to not like the idea of two dudes making out. But they have NO right to oppose the freedom of other people to do that. Everything is ok as long as it's not hurting anybody or limiting another person's own freedom.

So, what's your problem with furries?

[–]insta 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

Do any of us have room to talk though?

Drag kids has been endorsed by the most mainstream drag stars and this barely even registers within the gay community.

[–]Shadow_Lurker 19 insightful - 1 fun19 insightful - 0 fun20 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Do any of us have room to talk though?

Considering the sub we are, I think we have lol

But seriously now

Drag kids has been endorsed by the most mainstream drag stars and this barely even registers within the gay community.

The reason behind this is obvious: drag performances are a niche even amongst gay males, and most of the people who are within this specific social group have minds so open their brains have fallen out.

[–]insta 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Considering the sub we are, I think we have lol

I like this sub, but just be aware that we are a drop in a bucket. More people attend my city's Pride march than have ever openly expressed any of our views.

drag performances are a niche even amongst gay males

I'd argue it's not that niche. Like obviously #NotAll but it's quite popular in gay circles. Not saying lots of gays actually do drag but I would imagine the percentage of gay men who are openly against drag (as I am) are very very small.

minds so open their brains have fallen out.

Definitely stealing that.

I think by the very definition of a furry... that's not possible. >_>

[–]QueenBread 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

What's your definition of a furry?

Good.

[–]8bitgay 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Looking as an outsider, I've seen gay art done by furry artists and there are often gender non conforming men, but I've never seen a transman. The gender non conforming men are labeled as men, not non-binary, queer, etc. If anything artists seem to not care about being "inclusive" of TQ+.

But I've heard that in furry communities there are many trans/non-binary/queer people. Since I don't take part in these communities I dunno if it's specific to some communities though.

So, what is your opinion on it?

One thing I've noticed in non-furry art communities is that artists tend to be less "woke" than the fans. Fans might make rants about how artists aren't inclusive enough, but most artists don't care and just keep drawing whatever types of (cis) men they like. So maybe this is the case with furries too.

[–]QueenBread 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Here's the thing. A lot of the concept behind being a furry is making art. Furry, however, is also sometimes a movement about sexual freedom (it kind of comes with often drawing humanoid animals in sexual situations). And, as usual, the majority of authors are males. Gay males or straight males. You will often see the furry movement being hijacked into plain porn for men, straight or gay. You'll find many female authors drawing furry porn for males, too. It's just how things evolved, just like the LGBT movement is all about the T now.

That being said, some of us really just think that humanoid animals are cool. That's it.

I wonder if his "friend" knows that he's spreading his trauma around the entire fucking Internet and using it as a security blanket. Because you're either a full-blown violent rapist or a sweet baby angel, right? This "friend" either doesn't exist or seriously needs to cultivate some self-love and drop this piece of shit.

[–]Smolders1Cock is god's greatest gift.[S] 24 insightful - 1 fun24 insightful - 0 fun25 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

According to him, his friend has given him permission to spread his story to combat bigotry wherever it may apply and that the message in this post was 'approved by him.'

Yeah, sure it was. I obviously can't fully say that his story isn't true, but as someone who has been raped, I can't remember going around and telling everyone that they should use my story to combat individuals who are same-sex attracted.

Pretty sure it's just a made-up story lol.

[–]Shadow_Lurker 15 insightful - 1 fun15 insightful - 0 fun16 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's just a made-up story lol

Yes, it is.

They lie all the time.

[–]insta 10 insightful - 1 fun10 insightful - 0 fun11 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Whenever someone has a ready-made story to confirm their biases always be suspicious.

Social media is a platform that rewards lying.

[–]Shadow_Lurker 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They are just one step from saying outright: "I know you want it"

Like, fuck off...

[–]DifferentAirGC 17 insightful - 1 fun17 insightful - 0 fun18 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yes, asexual people also get corrective rape, but using these cases as gotchas is just a shitty thing to do.

And I think that while saying it never happens is downplaying, it's okay to say it still happens less often than corrective rape on lesbians/gays.

Lol that dude's Twitter history. It's funny how they use the terms male/female, yet state you can't define biological sex, but chant that TWAW, how can you be a woman if you can't even define what one is?

[–]LasagnaRossa 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

how can you be a woman if you can't even define what one is?

How can you tell you're born in the wrong body if men and women don't have a specific body?

[–]CatsOrGoHome 12 insightful - 1 fun12 insightful - 0 fun13 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have a strong dislike for that fox dude anytime I see his posts. Ugh.

[–]xAcidRainx 9 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 0 fun10 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I can never take this dude seriously

[–]CleverNickName 7 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 1 fun8 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

... okay, let's see those tweets of GCs that pop up in large numbers every time you retell the story of a friend's rape on twitter, apparently.

We'll be sure to denounce those people right away.

[–]luckystar 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've never been cursed enough to interact with one in the flesh, but based on all their descriptions (and hoo boy do they love to describe), "girldick" is literally just old grandpa dick. Struggles to get/stay hard, doesn't ejaculate (or very little), small, etc. It's just penis but even worse. That's less desirable than what you started with, which was already not at all interesting to lesbians (or straight men, but "somehow" they're always safe from having girldick shoved in their faces...)

Offering "girldick" to lesbians is like offering a peanut butter sandwich to someone who's allergic to peanuts, and then when they decline, you drop the sandwich on the floor so it's covered in dirt, and then offer it again. The allergic person is still having none of your peanut butter sandwich, and worse yet you've rendered the sandwich in a condition that even a person who likes peanut butter sandwiches is no longer gonna be interested.
