The whole "what a kid wants to wear gives clues about gender (and therefore sex)" thing is just completely crazy and I'm glad that they're having to retract it now... and that they can't actually effectively retract it since people have archives of their earlier statements.

When I was a very young child, I believed wholeheartedly that fluffy cats were girl cats and short-haired cats were boy cats. I insisted this to adults. They, being sane people, just kindly and repeatedly explained to me that I was mistaken and that sex of the cat is defined by other biological features. They pointed out that cats are either boy cats or girl cats and that shaving a girl cat wouldn't make her a boy cat, right? So it didn't have anything to do with fluffiness.

Yes and it's hilarious.

Th BBC dumped their association with them a months ago, UK schools are now being instructed not to tell gender non conforming kids they are trans, the GRA proposal was dropped.

All in all the tide is turning here.

Based britbongs. Hope that the US and Canada can soon follow, but I'm not too optimistic about that lmao

Canadian here. This does make me hopeful. Gender identity ideology has been successful because nobody has really bothered to try to understand it, and they've been taught to believe that there is consensus in the medical community about affirmation-only therapy, and what gender identity actually is. Once that false consciousness has been broken, the whole ideology falls like dominoes.

Britain is a ray of light in the darkness.

England*

Scotland is still desperate to appear woke, with their weird new hate crime law.

What are Wales and Northern Ireland like on the subject?

[–]artetolife 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

They aren't doing anything as far as I know.

Pretty much silent. Any noise NI makes atm is more concerned with Brexit. The Welsh are currently busy with Brexit as well.

Eh we still have our problems, plenty of them. Brexit is a clusterfuck, and we are currently welcoming illegals of the boats in huge numbers and putting them up in swanky 5 star hotels across the south of the country. Whilst putting people in prison for peacefully protesting against outrageous lock down measures.

One step forwards , two steps backwards is the way to progress!

Omg, THANK GOD!

I am so glad to hear things are changing over there. Do you know what caused the change? I remember BBC dropping Mermaids from their website but wasn't sure why.

UK schools are now being instructed not to tell gender non conforming kids they are trans, the GRA proposal was dropped.

This, especially, is heartening.

The BBC dropping Mermaids probably has a lot to do with the judicial review happening in a couple of weeks, which could have a big impact on how transgender minors are treated in this country so the BBC needs to be impartial. (Mermaids applied to give evidence in that case but were blocked, lol)

Of course they are lol. Susie Green is all over the internet talking about how trans is all about stereotypes and her fear of having a gay son. They are worried because they're going to lose all their funding, probably.

I just watched a video of her from 2018-- she is pro-trans, right? Said she was the CEO of Mermaids. Did she change her opinion?

[–]artetolife 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

No, the point is that she's always been very vocal about how playing with the 'wrong' toys etc is a sure sign of a trans child, and now her charity is trying to say that they've never said that.

Oh, gotcha. Totally makes sense. Yeah I was amazed. Her testimony or whatever was that "my 4 year old insisted he was a girl, so I just had to accept it!" Like, even if that weren't r/thatHappened material, wow.

[–]artetolife 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Yeah and I'm sure it had nothing to do with always being told he couldn't have or do anything he wanted because it was all "for girls" 🙄

Every definition of 'gender identity disorder' or 'being trans' that I've ever seen reduces to gender non-conformity: playing with kids of the opposite sex, playing with toys associated with the opposite sex. If gender identity has nothing to do with biological sex, and nothing to do with gender non-conformity, than what is it?

Anyone got a radar gun to clock exactly how fast that backpedal is moving?

Very good news for England. At least the self ID bullshit seems to be thrown down the drain and the indoctrination of school children in the gender cult halted.Ireland and Scotland are still in deep gender woo-woo though.
