I did feel that way, actually. When I first came out 5 years ago and all of this queer shit was really gaining steam, I felt judged and inadequate because I don't "look gay." For me it was easy to fall into that insecurity because I don't have any lesbian or gay friends so I sought out LGBT forums online and we all know how AL is.

After a year or two that feeling went away after I realized that the idea of having to "look gay" came from teenagers/young adults, the internet, and straight people who feel boring. I'm a lesbian simply because I am and not because of how I look or how I talk or how many rainbow items I own or anything insignificant like that.

The fallback of growing up gay with this new-age "gay is an aesthetic" bullshit
