“I ended up in the psych ward three times because of hormones. I had blood clots in my eyes because my estrogen levels were 2,585 instead of 200, low bone density, problems controlling my bladder, and emotional instability,” Shupe said. “Blood tests indicated I was dropping into kidney disease territory (EFGR below 60) for about 18 months, I had chronic dermatology issues and skin reactions to estrogen patches, I passed out on the kitchen floor from Spironolactone.”

He clearly was overdosing estradiol. Acute cases like this are an ominous foretell for the potential dangers of males with long term supraphysiological levels of estradiol. In about ten years we'll start finding out.

They all overdose on it, the dose is given to them and then medical staff expect these people (50% personality disordered/mental Illness) to not stuff up their dosage.

Yes! We just need about a hundred more of these men to transition back into reality and then maybe it will become trendy for the media to actually listen to them.

Shupe's account of the side effects of HRT is terrifying. I would love to send this to a trans-identified male friend of mine (estrogen seems to be making him quite depressed), but obviously that wouldn't go well. How can there be a type of medical treatment that you can't question in any way whatsoever?

A good example of why changing birth certificate sex not based on objective evidence is a bad idea. If you can continuously change the reference of what is supposed to be a documented fact (a person's sex), it's much harder to ignore what's being fabricated.

And so begins the great era of legislation (same with the FTM suing NHS atm). In this instance, the harm was mostly self-done and inflicted—or at least he’s positing it as that. But I’d still push for damages if I were him, on anyone and everyone who advocated this kind of abuse. One hopes the entire “gender clinician” spectrum is sued out of existence and put into the depths of Medical Hell with all the other quacks: phrenologists, leechers, lobotomists, snake oil salesmen.

I hope he's okay. His Twitter has been inactive since February.

From his Wiki page: In June 2016, Shupe successfully petitioned a Multnomah County, Oregon, court to change his sex designation to non-binary, in the first legal recognition of a non-binary gender in the United States. That November, he was issued a birth certificate in Washington, D.C., with a sex marker of "unknown".

Reminds me of the "Ex gay" movement where they end up not being able to live the straight facade any longer.

The once out spoken TRA now detransitioners list is growing.
