Were there ever?

I avoided Reddit for years because it stood out as a website for white men. I honestly had no idea women had communities there until 2019. It just seemed so odd for women, particularly lesbians and feminists, to use a website with so much porn on it. I actually joined Reddit for the blackladies sub and joined actuallesbians too. Couldn't believe how men-focused both subs were... black women talking about being attracted to white men on blackladies, and "lesbians" talking about being attracted to men who identified as women on actuallesbians. Yikes!!! As a black lesbian, both subs reeked of insecure women who wanted validation from men.

Reddit is good because there is a sub for anyone. Philosophy, introversion, plenty of hobbies. You can find anything. But since they go a sexist and trans fanatical agenda, I'm starting to use it less and less.

Yes, I'm aware... but it's essentially a porn website/app fronting as a news website/app. This is obvious by r/lesbians being a porn subreddit instead of a community for lesbians. Ridiculous.

I never watch porn sub. There are plenty of non porn sub. So, don't get all the porn thing. I mean, surely there is a lot of porn, but also a lot of non porn.

You're missing the point. On Reddit, lesbianism is associated with pornography... that's a big deal.

I sadly think it's not Reddit... it's just a fucked up norm in our reality. Since society view us in sexualized ways and Reddit is created by people, Reddit is just a visualization of said society and reality it creates.

But it's also not so bad. For example Polish side of web is extremely far-right and conservative. Since Reddit is mostly for people capable of reading in English, our Polish sub is the most liberal place where you can find other Poles. If not for Reddit, I would have to avoid social media completely.

With pornography or males in dresses. It is a site for men mainly

females, including myself, actually do use reddit. just not that many. i've only ever really used it for hobbies i like such as pixel art or the media i like such as cartoons or anime. as reddit has proved time and time again it's just a political echo chamber. personally, i don't really have an issue with porn and i ignore it most of the time. as long as it's not featuring pedophillia or something especially fucked up i don't care.

but it's really dumb how most subs on reddit for girls aren't even used by them. and when they do use it they're exactly as you said they are, they just seek attention and validation, especially on subs like r/teenagers. (you can literally get awards there just for saying you're female) so many attention craving trans "women" trying to twist facts and biology. and when you don't get a long with them they do everything in their power to shut you up.

You don't care that when lesbians search for lesbian communities, the porn subreddit r/lesbians is the top community (if NSFW is enabled)? Wow

[–][deleted] 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (8 children)

oh wait, no i didn't mean it like that. you shouldn't have to see porn when you look for a community. but can't you just disable nsfw results?

[–]censorshipment 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (7 children)

How does that disassociate lesbians and pornography???

[–][deleted] 8 insightful - 2 fun8 insightful - 1 fun9 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

disabling nsfw results means you won't see porn. if you disable nsfw results and search for the word lesbian i get subs for lesbians. and while the amount of actual women on them is debatable, there's no porn in sight.

You won't, but other people will.

[–][deleted] 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

only if they keep nsfw results on. it can be easily toggled when searching

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 6 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 0 fun7 insightful - 1 fun -  (3 children)

You are overestimating skills and web-knowledge of an average internet lurker. Some will hide, for sure, but not everyone. And some may want nsfw still be out there, as nsfw is not only pornography, but politics or questionable topics too.

[–]Jinera 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

When you make an account on reddit, it nsfw is automatically turned off. So arguably it's harder for those average internet lurkers to find that toggle that turns it on and see the nsfw posts.

I just use reddit mostly to talk in subs that are about the rare disorder that I have which have been helpful, and on the nsfw subs to do erotic roleplays which have been loads of fun. Who would have thought me and some random writing partner would end up writing 200.000 words in 3 months.

the pickmeishas are strong on reddit.

Sounds more than a little familiar (tho I'm white).

Wonder how many of those ostensible white-dude admirers on blackladies/ladyfeelz-dude admirers on actuallesbians weren't even women at all? Just men doing more of their gross woman-cosplay? Probably ALL of 'em!

That'd just be par for the course at this point, wouldn't it? Ugh. About the only bright spot (if there is one) would be that at least then women aren't saying this awful shit!

Are you not aware of Tumblr?

You know what kills me is for YEARS and I'm talking about many many YEARS I would lurk lesbian subs but never post/comment and not even upvote/downvote (unless it was an obvious troll, then I'd downvote/report just to help out) and my feeling was always "they don't want me there" so I just left them alone. I really didn't even go into their subs that much, just once in a while just to see what kinds of topics they were discussing lately.

Meanwhile straight men have been rushing in there dick-first talking about "Hello there, fellow lesbians!" and I'm just sitting here like.................... what?

yeah, it's just unfortunate honestly. but trans people always invade spaces for us, and people are encouraging them so i guess there's not much we can do at the moment :(

You mean AskWomen or ActualLesbians? Or, well, any other not banned big women sub.

And first post you see when coming to either of them is "TWAW", instead of something important about actual theme of sub.

[–]AugustiJade 15 insightful - 6 fun15 insightful - 5 fun16 insightful - 6 fun -  (2 children)

The pinned post from a few weeks ago about "twaw" really quite surprised me. It was so random! It wasn't as though there was a recent post about that bs. But of course, when trans narcissists aren't getting attention, they have to shout until they get their attention.

And they should just change the sub name to "Men Ask Other Men Their Thoughts on Women's Issues", because that is what it has become.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 14 insightful - 5 fun14 insightful - 4 fun15 insightful - 5 fun -  (1 child)

As one of transwoman said on youtube "feminism must be centering transwomen". So similar is here too, they must be in center of attention, first thing you see in any women spaces.

This. I was banned on AL for saying that lesbians don't like dick and it was that same time that JK made her tweets/statements. Then I searched for other subs and found GC, TL, AW etc. Then they were banned but I remained on AW. Let me tell you, I want to vomit everytime I go there now that there is that fixed post. I can't believe there's women who still don't see anything wrong with this shit. Women constanly have to make concessions of their spaces, struggles, etc to accomodate men or "people who feel like women".

Many there are still on the "accepting everyone" and "being good allies" bandwagon, thinking they're being supportive bc the T "only want their rights", when in reality they're looking (and succeeding in) to colonize women's and lgb spaces and movements so they can center theirs and make everything about them. Then they gaslight and make us sound crazy when we point out the shit they do/say against women and lgb people ("no we're not trying to erase women's rights", "no one is saying lesbians should take girldicks", "no one is saing gays have to take neovaginas", "it's not a fetish"), call us all transphobics and terfs and cancel women who don't agree 100% with their bullshit or dares to question anything about their movement. And since they harrass and actively try to destroy peoples lives, many allies are just that because they're afraid of "the consequences" if they slightly disagree with anything. And they became loud and vicious, saying things they don't really believe in just because. That's what's happening on AskWomen. A space for women, but that was pressured by the TRAs to "make a statement", so of course consessions were made to include them. Why couldn't they create asktranswomen? And even if they wanted to participate in a women oriented sub, they sould not be made the center of it, when actual women are kicked out for the slightly mistake to accomodate them.

Um look yikes... there’s a lot to unpack here, are you sweety, I mean really like trying to tell me sweaty, that a woman can not have a glorious cock and balls based genitalia? I mean if that’s what you’re trying to tell us then just yikes. I’m not sure this lesbian area is somewhere you want to be as we only allow lesbians of all genitals.

Just really. Yikes

Deleted the app earlier cos I just cant digest any more of the shit on there. I do think that the representation of them online makes it appear they are much larger in numbers than in society as a whole.

Its worrying for teenagers who are trying to figure out their sexuality and identity, going onto Reddit looking for advice and support only to be told "Yes youre definitely trans" or "Youre a lesbian and that means you like ALL women, even the male ones uwu"
