9 times queer, few times "women in love", only 2 times "lesbian" and 2 times "lesbianism". And word "lesbian" is used zero times about them in movie, every time it used in broad sense in lists "lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer people".

Well to be fair, many movies such as these, one woman is actually with a man yet it's often marketed as a lesbian movie when it's often the gay girl who falls for the bi chick.

In fact, has their actually been an actual lesbian movie where both female characters had zero history with men?

I can't think of any.

If I'm remembering correctly neither of the women in Rafiki had any history/interest in men. It's a Kenyan lesbian love story that originally got banned in it's home country (gay sex there is punishable with 14 years in prison.)

It really is a beautiful film (both in terms of story and cinematography) - be warned, it is quite heart breaking at times though.

We should be celebrating people like Uyaiedu Ikpe-Etim as brave and stunning. It seems making this movie has been a tremendous risk for her. I hope I can see it somehow.
