How to introduce yourself in the 21st century: first, list who you fuck, second, list all your mental illnesses.

Yes, everything is okay with the society. Why would you even ask?

What a way to announce that you’re annoying and not really an interesting person at all.

I would really like to go back to (or progress forward to) a time where identity wasn't chosen from a set of selected categories, but required self-awareness and reflection of who you wanted to be as a person, based on your actions and core values. Was honesty, justice, accountability, humor, loyalty, wisdom, etc. important to you? Hell, I'd even go back to a decade ago when most people, failing to come up with an actual personality, based it on pop-culture labels - be it someone else's intellectual property or a sports team. Even that was better than this timeline.

It's sad to realize that fandom based personalities were better than the shit we have now.

I don't mind fandom fanatics, because at least that's a reflection of interests outside of just yourself.

While that is true, watch out for the toxicity. The first modern day TRA behavior erupted from entitled fandom cultists, in the form of harassment, bullying, and cancelling... all that fun stuff.

I don't understand this desire to wear your mental illness on your sleeve. I suffer from depression and anxiety myself and have to take medication for my anxiety but I don't go around shouting it to everyone. Destigmatizing mental health meant sharing your struggles more openly with family and friends and other loved ones not posting it on your social media bios and making it the centerpiece of your personality, that's just as unhealthy as hiding it!

This honestly makes me sad for this young woman, she's clearly a lesbian but she's too ashamed to even admit her attraction to women instead calling them "non-men"..

[–]CAB_Life 26 insightful - 1 fun26 insightful - 0 fun27 insightful - 1 fun -  (4 children)

It’s so that you can get virtue points and cheerleading for literal nothing, literal life/ struggle/ pain/ the human condition; the same shit that 99% of people deal with in silence and dignity. Or at least they used to before social media. And I’m not talking about some “tough it up, be a man” bullshit. There are genuine existential and emotional issues that we are meant to process as individuals, not as a collective. The entire process of self-reflection has been inverted and perverted to such a degree that we never see beyond the ‘identity’ of our flaws, when the process of enlightenment should be something like: self-assessment and reflection > identifying the issue > building up tolerance/ acceptance/ or strength over or from said issue > becoming a better person. Now we just do the second step and ignore any actual treatment since the issue itself is what’s celebrated—depression, obesity, coming out, whatever—not how we’ve accepted or dealt with it.

None of the hard work is being done anymore, and this will and is having catastrophic effects on universal mental health since ignoring an issue doesn’t resolve it in any way.

I feel like this also plays out in all the "bi lesbian"/I changed my sexual orientation based on my partners gender identity people because sexual orientation is also a journey people have to take as individuals but many use as a chance for social clout.

Accepting and embracing myself as a lesbian was something I had to do by myself, because it's about accepting yourself as you are. Whereas gender ideology bases your sexuality in your partner's gender not your own immutable sexual attraction, I feel like this is partly because so much of modern sex/relationships glorify codependency and being "sex-positive"/pornified/open-minded/validating of your partner and social media encourages doing things "for the gram" and making your life a spectacle for others. In reality, coming to terms with your sexual orientation is a hard journey of self introspection and understanding before announcing it to the world, not something that changes based on your new flavor of the week 🙄

I changed my sexual orientation based on my partners gender identity

My ex-boyfriend became transwoman, and another one is NB. I guess I am not gay anymore - I am bisexual or straight because of that!

It is almost like if you name something with different word it will be changed. "It is not chainsaw, it is cheese, so now it is safe to eat it". No, just no.

They advertise their mental illness so you can’t criticize any abusive bullshit they pull. This is common with people who can’t regulate their emotions and lash out a lot but don’t want to do actual hard work to help themselves.

[–]Bisexualmetalhead 16 insightful - 1 fun16 insightful - 0 fun17 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I have BPD, plus a couple of other things, and I fucking HATE this shit! It's one thing to be open about your mental health struggles to fight stigmatization and spread awareness. It's another thing to wear it like a badge of pride or as if it's some sort of a personality trait (which tbf with personality disorders I could see why someone would confuse traits with aspects of the disorder).

BPD is highly stigmatized so I'm not open about it, much less PROUD of it. I don't WANT to have it. Every time I choose to speak up about my mental illness, I run the risk of ostracizing myself because people associate BPD with psychopathic monsters and annoying attention seekers like the person who wrote this bio or whatever it is. I'm always afraid that saying "I have BPD" will make people see me differently so I rarely ever bring it up. It's a topic I won't even touch while dating. I'm a bit more open about it online, but that's just because forms like this and Reddit are more anonymous so I can vent about things related to my struggles that I can't vent about to people who know me IRL because of the reasons I mentioned above. It's just so frustrating because I go to therapy and I work really really hard to try to prove that I'm not a stereotype or a caricature. I try to prove that I'm more than my BPD and that my illness doesn't define me and then I go online and see shit like this which adds to the stigma because most normal people would read this person's bio and think "I'm staying away from this weirdo". That creates a loop where when I say that I have BPD, I get associated with people like this and it just doesn't help anyone.

It's quite simple really, just look at the list of mental illnesses, it's almost always from a list of four mental illnesses...

Sorry for the double comment but I used to have this old white coworker that looked like a cross between Santa Claus and Colonel Sanders from KFC, and I'm just imagining him lowering his glasses down his nose, squinting at the screen and going (with a concerned Southern accent) "Now... The witchcraft stuff is adding insult to injury. Like, c'mon, you demand we take you seriously with this "agender queer lesbian" crap, but then you go ahead and immerse yourself in fake supernatural BS too?

I don't understand why pretending to be a witch has taken off so much. It's common in both the trans community and the radfem one. Fuck facts and logic, who needs to have an actual adult discussion when DarkSatanicEnbyBean and uterus-moon-goddess-womyxn can duke it out on Twitter by using emoji spells (A real fucking thing they believe in, look it up) at each other?

[–]Bisexualmetalhead 13 insightful - 3 fun13 insightful - 2 fun14 insightful - 3 fun -  (0 children)

Undoomed, a faceless Youtuber who does reaction/response videos making fun of this "SJW special snowflake" crap, did a really funny video a couple of years ago about this non-binary dude-person talking about witchcraft. I'd recommend looking up "Undoomed non binary tumblr witch" on Youtube to watch the full video because it's hilarious (both the insanity of the original vid and Undoomed's no nonsense responses), but there is one part where the guy in the original video says that trans people are attracted to Wicca because it allows them to "be more unique" and that pretty much spoke volumes.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 5 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 2 fun6 insightful - 3 fun -  (2 children)

Most feminist witches I saw were neoliberal feminists, not radfems.

It is hard to navigate nowadays, thought, everyone is calling themselves everything, so you need to check what they are doing to even have an idea what they actually are. And words like "queer" are there to remove any meanings of the words, to make language useless. If "gay man" can be a woman today, then what "gay man" even means?

[–]OPPRESSED_REPTILIANIntersex male | GNC | Don't call me "a gay", "twink" or "queen" 4 insightful - 2 fun4 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

It was less common on the gendercritical reddit but in the radical feminist community on Tumblr it was pretty rampant. Couldn't go 5 minutes of scrolling without seeing angry-satanic-wombyn (paraphrased but someone probably has that username) go on a rant about how intersex people are scum like trans and that we deny science, and then unironically post a list of "spells" right after.

Good times. (not) Shame my account got banned for "hate speech" aka calling FTMs fujoshi.

I personally don't care so much for words, and I don't think that words themselves are issues. Like I saw people on (the old Reddit version of) this sub constantly whine about how bi people are LITERALLY OPPRESSING THEM if they call themselves gay or lesbian, when I literally could not care less and I have way bigger issues to worry about. I'm more worried about TRAs making people lose their jobs and bringing their shit to the real world/trying to get actual laws changed.

[–]MezozoicGayoldschool gay 4 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 0 fun5 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I'm more worried about TRAs making people lose their jobs and bringing their shit to the real world/trying to get actual laws changed.

And that is done by changing definitions of words, making words useless. If there no sex - then there no sexism. If female can be gay and male can be lesbian, then gay and lesbian words makes no sense. If everyone is Queer, then no one is Queer. If call misgendering as "Literal Violence" and repeat it all the time, without mentioning that it was just misgendering - casual society will think there is really some violence going on. And so on.

[–]Shinjin_NanaNopes faster than an Aeldari Jetbike 2 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 0 fun3 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

I've noticed that too, the rise of radfem witchcraft. I have a feeling it's more about the rejection of male dominated and created 'western' religions like christianity than actually believing in magic.

I could be wrong about the latter bit though.

Satanists of all flavors advocate taking responsibility for oneself (and despise censorship), something the woke queer community is terrible at. Crying hysterically and running to your hugbox because someone "misgenders" you isn't a satanic tenant.
