Not really related to this topic, but I sent Buck Angel a DM the other day, thanking him for calling out his own community for all the bullshit they sprout, and for being a great human being, and he sent me a very nice reply. I've no-one to share my little fangirl moment with, so I'm telling you guys. :D

It's a fucking disgrace how the TRAs are treating Buck Angel. He's being a voice of reason, but clearly that's unpopular in 2020.

Back when I was still watching Contrapoints ( I was basically a TRA), I remember the entire Twitterverse and half of reddit turning on Contra for having Buck provide literally five seconds of voice work for a video. It was kind of insane. They are like dogmatic search and destroy robots.

Oh yes, I saw that, too. I have a hard time grasping how quick they are to turn on one of their own. You'd think they'd give her the benefit of doubt, but no. It's like scientology; a toxic, crazy cult. Contra's "Cancelled" video was great, though. I disagree with her on almost everything, but I appreciate her humour.

Yeah, I don't dislike Contra as a person, I think she has a sort of empathy/open-mindedness and semi self-awareness that her followers and fellow TRAs lack, to be honest. Even back then I found it incredibly weird to witness the dogpile that resulted from that one five-second clip. She wasn't endorsing Buck's views, or even giving a platform, but any amount of association at all is enough to throw a person to the wolves. It's made even worse by the fact that if you dig into Buck's history and current life, Buck is an incredibly reasonable and stand-up person.

I recently started watching Blaire White's videos (she who must not be named, I always avoided her like the plague before) and find that my views on identity politics line up almost completely with hers, and she can be surprisingly articulate in a debate, though her style of showmanship and cheap personal shots at people can be off-putting sometimes. I think it's important to have outspoken trans people like Blaire, though, who are adamant about the fact that biological sex is real and has real implications, and that genital 'preferences' aren't transphobic, and that trans people pushing others to deny reality is harming not only their own community, but everyone else's.

Oh, I'm with you there. I've been a subscriber of Blaire for years. She's not perfect (like you said, those cheap shots aren't cool), but she has a good head on her shoulders and I'm always interested to hear her opinions. People like her, Buck, and Rose of Dawn are trans voices well worth hearing. It's so important that they keep talking; not all trans people are TRAs and I think people need to know that. Personally I try to follow as many reasonable trans people as I can, just so I won't forget TRAs are a hardship for them, too.

You see, Buck has two things that trigger TRAs:

1) he's a woman 2) she's voicing her opinion

of course that's gonna make them VERY pissed.

On a side note, I found many transwomen and transmen on Twitter who fully support Rowling. Further increasing my theory that this isn't and never ever was about real transpeople.

You may have a point. Even after everything, maybe they see Buck as a woman on some level (I don't, but that's not the point). And we all know treating women like this is perfectly okay in their books; one only needs to look at the responses JK Rowling is getting.

And you're right; there's tons of trans people who agree with Rowling. It's just that they're automatically cancelled and harassed to an inch of their lives if they dare voice that. It's obvious TRAs aren't actually fighting for trans people, else they wouldn't treat anyone they deem as "transmeds" like shit.

I think the reality that he's also very passable also impacts their hatred. The closer the trans person is to "normal" the more isolated that person is from the trans community it seems. I think a lot of it is just a pity party mixed in with "crabs in a bucket" syndrome.

No matter how passable she is, she's still a woman. I mean - I can use a Snapchat filter and look perfectly passable as the other gender, in an instant. I'm saying this only because if I'm complaining about transwomen being men, then I also can't deny that transmen are women. Even if transmen aren't dangerous at all. That being said, Buck's a good person. And that's what really counts, not the gender bullcrap.

I don't mean to be an asshole but this isn't nearly as clever or thought provoking as you think it is. "Passing" is definitely a thing, the only "passing" that matters is in person otherwise that's just catfishing which isn't even a trans-exclusive thing.

The trans lobby doesn't hate Buck because she's a woman or trans, they hate her because she doesn't puppet their talking points and she's passing.

"Passing" as the other gender, in person, just requires more work than a one-second snapchat filter. But it's still "passing". it's a disguise, that's the point I was trying to make.

    Buck sees the lgb tq+ split forming and is working against time and much of the trans community to heal relations by tackling the instigators. But I think it's too late and gonna happen anyway, as their community may already be too messed up by the tras, genderkin and poisoned by vested pharma interests at this point.

    Sounds a lot different than his twitter does.     God I love JK Rowling these days. The best part about her is, that no matter how hard they huff and they puff, the TRAs cannot blow her house down. She’s estimated to be worth $650M-$1.2B depending on the source you use, she can sit around and say “Fuck you.” to the TRAs all day long for the rest of her life, a thousand life times even if she could, and there isn’t a damn thing they can do to ruin her. At this point I think she’s just liking comments like this to egg them on because it is kind of fun to see what they do and say. Also because it reveals their true nature. Honestly, I hope she keeps it up till the end of time too, nice to have a voice like hers on the side of sanity.
