The Hasidic Jews in NYC have in created an unofficial police force, using those three-wheeled police "cars" with "Shomrim" painted on it in Hebrew instead of "NYPD"; they have all the same decals and colors as an NYPD one though (as seen in the beginning of the video in the OP). They've also been spotted using any type of vehicle, keeping it unmarked and outfitting it with sirens and lights, and the NYPD leaves them alone (they actually sometimes hold events with them in an effort to get them to participate and share their knowledge, but have found they share less than they put on, and the NYPD still lets this go on despite impersonating a police officer being a serious crime.. I can't imagine anyone else getting away with this shit.. harassing people, pretending to be police, pulling people over (especially african americans, it's been documented), threatening them, etc). They literally dress in NYPD uniform, or black suits, and try to get black New Yorkers to move out of buildings they're moving into as a group, by gang-stalking them as well as harassing them constantly (knocking on their door all day and night, saying they "received calls about drugs/hookers/the odor of cannabis" and they need to leave the building and find a new residence. They call themselves the "Hatzolah". They also use the name "Shomrim" too.

  • "Shomrim volunteers are unarmed and do not have the authority to make arrests, other than citizen's arrest. They are effective in tracking and detaining suspects until police arrive. Some Shomrim members in the United States have been convicted of assaults and misdemeanors against people from outside their community, particularly African-Americans."

  • "One of the volunteer patrols in New York has been criticized by the New York City Police Department for not always notifying police when a call comes in."

  • "Additionally, Brooklyn Shomrim organizers have been accused of withholding information on suspected child molesters and other Jewish criminals, in keeping with an interpretation of the Torah prohibition against mesirah (informing on a fellow Jew to the non-Jewish authorities)"
