kroll isn't funny but his dad is rich and bankrolls these shows for him, probably helps that it also subverts society. He owns Kroll Inc and they were in charge of security at the world trade center.

He used his money to get into the LA comedy scene, and he did help a lot of legitimately funny comedians like Mulaney get started, but still yeah he's a hack.
