Satan has managed to fool people into shutting down religion and destroying the economy, all for a disease no more serious than the flu

Mortality from Covid is about 1/400.

Expect about 50% to get infected. That's a death rate of 125 per 100,000.

Mortality from flu is 1/1000.

And nearly everyone vulnerable to dying from flu gets vaccinated, taking down the number if population deaths from it down to 2 per 100,000 population.

Not even close to 'no more dangerous than flu.' it kills about 60x more people.

I'm not going off American numbers.

The very best test group we had was the Diamond Princess, right at the start. It could have been designed as an enclosed experiment to estimate the mortality. I'm not sure it wasn't exactly that.

The general population mortality was something like 1/300 once you correct for the age of the subjects. It appears to have been a touch higher than normal because of th enclosed environment.

The UK stats and other European death rates come in at about the same.

So all that about the American hospital deaths etc is moot.

I've also had my fit 19 yo daughter go from training for a half marathon to gasping for breath with pneumonia when she caught it. This is way worse than flu.

There are a lot of issues here. The mortality rate. Effective treatment. Effective prevention.

Outside of the Diamond Princess, there isn't much reliable data because no one knows how many people were infected without symptoms. There seems to be good evidence that the mortality rate has been dropping over time. It looks like the mortality rate was very high in Wuhan when it started. Since people with symptoms will be isolated, it makes sense that the virus would evolve to be less virulent.

An important point in the video is that there is effective treatment if given early. The nurse said that no one died who was treated properly. But the West has become evil, so it no longer aims at curing people. Presumably your daughter would have gotten better quickly if treated properly. Today the West is much more interested in destroying freedom and oppressing religion than it is is curing people. It seems that only the far Right in the West has any interest in freedom of religion, so all sensible Muslims should support the far Right.

In addition, the preventative measure being taken are basically random with little evidence for the effectiveness of any of it. Traditional quarantines, as described in the Old Testament and in hadiths, are based on isolating the infected, not isolating everyone.

It's a new virus, she caught it in March before any of the research was done. No one had a clue what proper treatment was back then.

There was no medicine for it, it takes at least six months of medical trials to even begin to have an idea of how to treat a new virus.

Anyone saying there was a medicine to treat it is lying. There has not been enough time to develop one or discover one that works. At the moment all we have are a few studies done over a few months with uncertain results.

The mortality early on in all outbreaks gets massively overstated purely because the total number of cases misses asymptomatic and mild infections. It's why you saw mortalities as high as 4% in initial estimates. They didn't know so many were asymptomatic. They were only counting the people who came to hospital, which by definition omits mild cases from the stats.

The mortality rate hasn't really changed, all that changed was that they started to include mild/asymptomatic cases in the count.

I've been keeping an eye on data from assorted European countries, at best it's twice as deadly as flu by case fatality, and we have no vaccines for the vulnerable. Of which I am one.

About 65-80% of the infected are asymptomatic. We know this from the Diamond Princess, and other mass screening efforts.

No. Just because one can't conclusively prove that a medicine works doesn't mean that such a medicine doesn't exist. If an existing medicine that is known to be safe works anecdotally, that is good enough to be worth trying. And we have such a medicine. But instead of using this, America prefers to use treatments that are known to be harmful.

By breeding the virus to be less virulent. If you quarantine the symptomatic cases and allow the asymptomatic cases to spread freely, then you are breeding the virus to be less harmful.
