It's a new virus, she caught it in March before any of the research was done. No one had a clue what proper treatment was back then.

There was no medicine for it, it takes at least six months of medical trials to even begin to have an idea of how to treat a new virus.

Anyone saying there was a medicine to treat it is lying. There has not been enough time to develop one or discover one that works. At the moment all we have are a few studies done over a few months with uncertain results.

The mortality early on in all outbreaks gets massively overstated purely because the total number of cases misses asymptomatic and mild infections. It's why you saw mortalities as high as 4% in initial estimates. They didn't know so many were asymptomatic. They were only counting the people who came to hospital, which by definition omits mild cases from the stats.

The mortality rate hasn't really changed, all that changed was that they started to include mild/asymptomatic cases in the count.

I've been keeping an eye on data from assorted European countries, at best it's twice as deadly as flu by case fatality, and we have no vaccines for the vulnerable. Of which I am one.

Traditional quarantines, as described in the Old Testament and in hadiths, are based on isolating the infected, not isolating everyone....there isn't much reliable data because no one knows how many people were infected without symptoms.

About 65-80% of the infected are asymptomatic. We know this from the Diamond Princess, and other mass screening efforts.

Pray tell me how is a quarantine system going to work if you have asymptomatic carriers you can't ID?
