Welcome. As a mostly conservative I stress to people that they aren't just one thing. I'm conservative on some issues, moderate on others, and liberal on a few things.
We are dividing ourselves too much by a political party line and it's wrecking this country.

Don't forget, we now also have the politically incorrect steak; well done.

Did you read the essay "Exiting the Vampire Castle"? Give it a try.

The author, Mark Fisher, was roundly condemned for writing it and was hounded into killing himself three years later.

As someone who was in OP's boat about four years ago, just lose the damn labels. I went from progressive to liberal but not progressive to independent, to libertarian, back to independent.. I'll probably vote republican this year, but I wont call myself a republican because it comes with a whole lot of assumed stances I don't agree with. There isn't a label for what I am now, and at the end of the day, there's probably not a label for anyone who doesn't blindly align with a lot of views they haven't thought through because those topics weren't their priority.
