Yep. Mindblowing because Reddit is US-based, and under US anti-discrimination law, women are a protected class (percentage of population has no bearing).

I really dislike over-litigation, but part of me would love to see Reddit Corp absolutely picked apart over this.

Women are a protected class but men aren't? That makes no sense.

How does that not make sense? Have you seen crime statistics?

[–][deleted] 6 insightful - 3 fun6 insightful - 2 fun7 insightful - 3 fun -  (1 child)

13/50?

NOOOO YOU CANT JUST QUOTE ACCURATE CRIME STATISTICS SWEETY

What do you mean by that ?

According to the criminal victimization data from the Bureau of justice statistics, men and women living in the US are (nearly) equally likely to be victim of a violent crime so I'd say that Wrang1er's comment is relevant.

Yes, victimised by other men

[–]Rationalmind 7 insightful - 1 fun7 insightful - 0 fun8 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Men are too. Protected class on the basis of sex. Sex can be men or women.

Technically they are.

(the * referring to gender identity is being challenged through US HHS, HUD, etc. so take it with a grain of salt)

a massive number of lawsuits against reddit is exactly what needs to happen. everyone interested, spend a couple months learning enough about law to draw up your own lawsuits against reddit and file them in court for pennies. even if you lose, you'll have some great education and experience from it, and what cost you $100 will cost them $10,000 to defend. now imagine 10,000 of these lawsuits and do the math

They are blatant communists at this point. Glad that shit site is dying.

"those who are in the majority."

So chinese?

Looks like they changed it.

https://www.reddithelp.com/en/categories/rules-reporting/account-and-community-restrictions/promoting-hate-based-identity-or

While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect those who promote attacks of hate or who try to hide their hate in bad faith claims of discrimination.

This used to say "While the rule on hate protects such groups, it does not protect all groups or all forms of identity For example, the rule does not protect groups of people who are in the majority or who promote such attacks of hate."

Interestingly, black South Africans are the majority in their country.

or who try to hide their hate in bad faith claims of discrimination.

So, the role protects those who try to hide their hate in bad good faith claims of discrimination.

Are some groups channeling good hate?

I only can think of one notable exception.

Assuming this refers to the population of the US, they'll change this around 2045

[–]pequenoloco 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

No, US will be just as white, white people will just be a bit browner on average. Hispanics will end up being considered and identifying as white, just like the Italians and Irish.

[–]Whoscapes 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Nah man, Jews survived as a discrete ethnic group for over a thousand years without any sort of homeland. The idea that everyone will just leap into some racial melting pot is silly.

[–][deleted] 5 insightful - 1 fun5 insightful - 0 fun6 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Has to be the stupidest fucking rule I've ever seen, and is proof to me that Reddit has completely turned from what they once were.

THESIS: Hating something is a waste of energy. People migrate with their feet, when they start to smell shit hitting the fan. The only difference between them is their speed of reaction to this natural flow.
