Big tech is gradually attempting to turn the internet into something like AOL or cable television only worse, an internet that knows your preferences and how to keep relevant information away from you. This is why we need places like Saidit where people can state whatever their position is on whatever topic so that we can all be more informed about perspectives on any given topic, even if it's not something we agree with or believe.

Nah we didn't lose. Things aren't easy though, and tactics are always evolving. New sites are necessary as old giants consolidate and corporatize. This refresh is a continual refreshing process, like plowing last year's field to make a fertile field for next year's crop. People just need to realize this sort of rollover is natural and necessary, but the internet is new.
