Man, I would trust Mozilla with my life.

You're funny.

Or if you're not joking are foolish. Don't trust anything that big.

please check that your settings match your personal preferences before we re-enable Studies, which will happen sometime after 2019-05-13T16:00:00Z

What does this mean? They will start collecting Studies data again on 5/13? Or they will force enable studies on 5/13?

Also I wonder why it took 4 days to release a proper fix.

They will start collecting Studies data again sometime after 2019-05-13T16:00:00Z, if you've got Studies enabled. They're telling everyone who doesn't want it on to turn it off by then.

It took 4 days because it's a tricky issue. Certificates are hard enough to deal with at the best of times… but when everyone's panicking it's so much harder.

Ty. My next browser will not come with studies enabled by default.

Firefox ESR? That doesn't even allow enabling studies, and Screenshots is permanently in offline mode.

In order to respect our users’ potential intentions as much as possible, based on our current set up, we will be deleting all of our source Telemetry and Studies data for our entire user population collected between 2019-05-04T11:00:00Z and 2019-05-11T11:00:00Z.

Guess we'll just have to trust you on that. Asshats.

I trust Mozilla on this. All of the bad stuff they've done, they've admitted to. There've been no scandals where hidden Mozilla information has come out after the fact.

Then you're a fool. Google has admitted to infiltrating Mozilla and sabotaging it.

Don't trust any corporation or government. The bigger it is the less you should trust it.

[–]wizzwizz4 2 insightful - 3 fun2 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 3 fun -  (8 children)

Sabotage != damage integrity.

And...?

It's a dog eat dog world out there. Google is one of the fattest dogs.

Microsoft has similar famous policies.

Google have sabotaged Mozilla. That doesn't mean Mozilla will now steal people's personal info and hide it whilst lying about deleting it.

That doesn't mean...

That doesn't mean you should trust them either.

Don't respond to me without rethinking it 20 times.

No, it doesn't mean you should trust them. But I already have other reasons for trusting them – they haven't been revealed as having lied about this kind of thing yet, for one.

The corporate media keeps lyng to us and have admitting lies countless times. Trust is not earned because someone admits they're shit. They need to change their behavior, like you need to stop fucking responding.

[–]wizzwizz4 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (2 children)

They need to change their behaviour,

How often does Mozilla mess up like this? Nothing really comes to mind. That's why this is news. Though they have acknowledged that they need to change their systems to stop this happening again.

like you need to stop fucking responding.

If you don't like this conversation, why are you still having it? It takes two to respond; I'm not spamming you out of the blue.

Oh, they will delete it. But not before sending all that data to Google.

Google is the vampire king of all data-sucking machines.
