So what's to be done about it? (/s/Cassy)

Set up decentralized instances with setup and management tutorials:

  • Lemmy = decentralized Reddit-like feed forum
  • Movim = decentralized Facebook/Messenger-like forum and chat
  • YaCy = decentralized search
  • PeerTube = decentralized YouTube-like platform
  • a decentralized robust archival system
  • a decentralized robust image gallery
  • NextCloud = decentralized file sharing and more (including video-conferencing)
  • OAuth = so one alias may login across all these platforms
  • Mastodon = decentralized Twitter-like platform
  • Diaspora = decentralized Facebook-like platform
  • some kind of FLOSS VPS
  • Internet alternatives: IPFS, TOR, ZeroNet, etc.
  • etc.

What else?

Okay, which one of you fuckers is torrenting through TOR?

Made me chuckle so fucking hard, holy shit man... i still can't stop.

Perhaps it is the "sponsor" CIA / NSA of this honeypot itself ?

They're possibly backing-up their latest pedo-porn, before the Russians send this scam into its grave finally, maybe.

Or the Chinese are downloading the latest updates of the Palantir backend, maybe ?!?

Who did they piss off recently?

I keep hearing about how our governments wants to do something big to the Internet soon. This may be a first step.

/u/LarrySwinger2, perhaps we should set up a TOR portal on Cassandra for private SaidItor use?

Also, I think RabbitHole.wf is down. Last week we had some power outages, so maybe the router reboot got a new IP. Also, weegs and I got an instance of Lemmy going on Cassandra (not yet online) and whatever he did may have messed with something. Not sure if that instance will stay or not. It wasn't in Docker. I'd rather have the 2 Lemmy instances on the VPS. Movim next. Then YaCy and then...

The attack started 10 days ago. I do not know how big it is, but given the resources you need to last that long, this could well be a government level attack.

Also given that even after this time people at Tor still haven't find a potential mitigation solution, I assume that this is an attack on a large scale.

What does it mean to "scrub the Internet"?

I keep hearing that phrase. I forgot it for my last comment.

The internet is being sanitized, unapproved sites are deranked or even delisted. Related to the dead internet theory.

In the past, the FBI attacked the network in order to identify the people behind Silk Road and a lot of other illegal websites. You don't think it's something like that again?

Time will tell.

They're already doing it. The internet we knew will not be allowed. No more anonyminitiy, and with punishments for unauthorized speech, including being removed from services.

Because of my phone's advertising ID, videos weren't playing. Imagine saying the wrong words so you can no longer watch internet videos. It just happened.

Time for us all to open TOR portals. And more.
