If I'm reading this right, they believe that parsing even more semantic meaning form a query will deliver in better results.

Yet their current attempts have turned their product into AltaVista-style trash. It doesn't believe what I type. That's why I don't use Google. Bing is worse in one respect, which I guess has similar purpose to this paper: Bing doesn't allow you to exclude terms any more.

Congratulations for almost ten years since they flipped the switch for failing to search the web. It sure is profitable.
