Nice, free advertising.

we have also come to learn that even the word “moccasin” is an anglicization of the Ojibwe word “makizinan.”

Funny how much they are coming clean about only to say they’re going to keep on keeping on. Yes with more guest designers and philanthropy, but still. I mean, it’s cool, maybe you’ll be able to buy your very own goobandit moccs in the future, who knows?

I like boat shoes which are like the useful version of moccasins. I mean, did anyone think this was legit Native American craftsmanship? I'd never heard of the brand so I can't say. I think that'd matter.

If they're just apologizing for cultural appropriation and not really doing anything, they're just getting free advertising. I have now heard of their brand and I have to admit, it makes me want to buy boat shoes.

I already have boat (fishing) sandals.

The fishing equivalent is generally better because it has to fulfill a purpose. Be useful.

Better go with goobandit fishing footwear instead.

They say they’re going to come out of their pockets more...we’ll see. The real handmade ones are mostly for ceremonies so it’s not like they have had much competition. I think it’s similar to Pendleton where they do enough for native orgs that it’s excused for the most part.
