Honestly, this seems reasonable actually. I do that at my university all the time, I am not even wearing them off, except lectures. Otherwise, people would come just to use me for shit.

I'm sure you don't wear headphones because you don't want members of the opposite sex to talk to you and tell you they like you. I believe some women do it specifically to discourage men from talking to them.

Of course not. The major difference is the expectation - foids expect being approached and they expect interest from opposite sex, I can't expect it so I wear them because the only thing that can be heard by me are calls for help. And I don't want to do it
