I want to make a free speech SaidIt clone. SaidIt is written in Python. SaidIt needs some bug fixes and I have some ideas for improvements, so I could use some help from a Python programmer.

I guess that they should wait until you get docker working so that they can more easily install the server, right?

nah, for dev work and a demo it's good to go. use ubuntu14 in a VM and it works fine.

but yeah for production it's kinda sketch to use something that old. you have to find a web host that lets you install any image too, because no one is offering new ubuntu14 installs anymore.

And there could be known vulnerabilities in an OS that old, which gets no new security updates.*

dang, you almost got there. manhole isn't ringing any bells. I'll see if I can reproduce this.

this is now fixed. it was an SSL compatibility issue. Now when you run the installer, it first upgrades your python.

I'm very new to it. I'm currently in college taking classes in Python basics and have messed with Python a little bit here and there, but I'm willing to try and help.

Hm. I ran into an error while installing Saiddit on the virtual machine, I'm gonna ask d3rr to see if he know what's the cause, but the whole thing might be more complex than I'm apt to handle to be frank.
