What I mean is that we can enjoy things sometimes, without being worried about political stuff.

The trick in the video is great and funny.

I would try to keep illusionists non-political

Why? People need to understand how easy it is to be tricked, so they can be flexible enough to realize there is likely much we believe that is false. Immediate examples include "authority", lockdown, COVID, banks, war, etc.

Good luck trying this with your girl.
I would try to keep illusionists non-political, because it is not their intention as entertainers, and they teach us a lot about the tricks.

Politically: illusionists are masters in lying to people. They have to pretend something is something else, and that nothing is hidden. The same is for psychopaths, intelligence and politicians.

For every fun magic trick you've ever seen, there's countless nefarious individuals, institutions, and governments pulling un-fun tricks to screw all the good natured people over.

Didn't know about the Dealt (2017) documentary before seeing this. Have you seen it /u/SierraKiloBravo ?

Good to know. I'll be keeping that in mind and I hope/expect others will tell him. He's got no problem correcting when necessary.

This video is founded on a piece of fake news. The guy is reading this first article talking about how the inventor said that the method was not appropriate to detect a virus, but the inventor never said that. The actual quote is from someone else. Furthermore, the guy they were actually quoting just said that the test can't detect viral load.

It's a shame we can't post images in the reply. I would have used the Yao Ming line drawing of him laughing. It would have been funny.

Wow

The Necker cube has shed light on the human visual system.[6]The phenomenon has served as evidence of the human brain being a neural network with two distinct equally possible interchangeable stable states.[7] Sidney Bradford, blind from the age of ten months but regaining his sight following an operation at age 52, did not perceive the ambiguity that normal-sighted observers do, but rather perceived only a flat image.[8][2]

Interesting banner and page css.. by deAccount in Illusions

[–]JasonCarswell 1 insightful - 1 fun1 insightful - 0 fun2 insightful - 1 fun -  (0 children)

Thanks, I think.

The banner is a temporary stand in until I collage something together this week. It's currently one of MC Escher's horizontal images.

I have a long list of topical subs I'd like to see exist to post under, whether I make them or not. But magnora7 made up an arbitrary maximum limit so I have to be selective about the sub titles. I had always definitely wanted to make one for Op Art and mind twisters, Pareidolia (faces in things), and other misperceptions - not to mention ways they may be exploited for fun or political motives.

I like custom and thematic banners for a little more personality and if I'm going to bother with that then I might as well add a CSS too.

This "Ergonomix" CSS is 99.9% done but I need a little help from M7D3 to learn how to activate the Ergonomix link below the sidebox and how to utilize the announcements space at the top of the sidebox where it currently says "Decentralize All Things" including adding announcements, links to more details, the wiki, and SaidIt donate options. This CSS was initially designed to tweak a few things on the original default to make it more practical and easier to read - and I just kept going until it became it's own thing that is colour coded for practicality and visibility with a touch of design. I think there are over 30 subs with this CSS now, most with custom banners. Since most people on SaidIt aren't blind, once I finalize this CSS I will revise all the colours for a second version "Ergonomix-Muted" for people who don't need the crazy colours.

I also did the /s/Coronavirus and /s/CorbettCommenters and am working on the all new /s/WikiSpooks which will also eventually be toned down colour-wise (it's easier to see differences for coding when more pronounced) with a much easier to customize pallet that's based on a grade between 2 colours. Once that code is completed I will apply that CSS to /s/GreenParty and /s/PinUps in other colours and see if I can do it all in under 10 minutes, maybe even 5. Also, FYI, speaking of Illusions, the WikiSpooks banner is very slowly animated and I may do something like that here.

If you would like custom banners, CSS, or CSS help lemme know. I need to focus on another couple projects until Sept or Oct and then can help, unless the fruits of my labour on these projects I'll be sharing blows up with success.
