I would agree with you, when compared to the current mobile UI, a system more like New Reddit's mobile app would be an upgrade. It's just more intuitive.

For the desktop system though, being as close as possible to Old Reddit would be the route to go for now, in my opinion. People are familiar with and miss it. Upgrades from that should be kept minor until this site has more mass.

You can use the Slide port I made, that has a card mode. I should keep working on that at some point…

Late reply, but I don't think the desktop version should ever be upgraded with a more modern design ever. I think it keeps "normies" out, I think most of the users who used to use old Reddit actually didn't like the new changes anyways. Even when the site gets more popular, I hope the old reddit layout for desktop stays the same. I agree with the app thing though. It's a bit basic, but hey, it works at least ;)
