I just flew in from Langley where I was doing a 2 week infiltration refresher course and updated all my James Bond gadgets, and boy are my arms dealers tired.

Truth is my back still kills but it seems like it's getting better. I thought that before. Maybe it's the Universe making me quit my SaidIt addiction. I've been working on a longer post for the last couple weeks when I can sit and think. I'm glad that I think better now and gladder when it's almost pain free at times.

My views on consensus:

  1. Ask as much as possible, especially if it's perceptible or impactful or in doubt. Don't expect great feedback.

  2. If the response is lackluster or ambiguous then justduet and provide a keep-or-revert date (ie. week-long trial) while asking again for feedback.

  3. Revert back if necessary.

Hahaha worst joke ever, I love it. Sorry about your back man, I hope you get it squared soon. Maybe sleeping on the floor would help. Good thoughts on consensus.

I have a semi-urgent issue.

Viewing and editing wikipages works but saving wikipages seems to be a problem. Obviously comments save.

Fortunately the seasonal thunderstorm has passed today but there's another tomorrow and if my power goes so does whatever work I did.

Backup to disk asap! Copy and paste that sucker.

Good report man, it's indeed broken. Priority #1 for me. Hopefully it will be fixed tonight at some point.

After I commented I tried it in K-Melon and found the same problem so I'd saved it to a text file.

Glad you're on it. Thanks. I was using it before no prob. I don't recall doing anything to break it but if I did I'd like to know so I don't do whatever it was again.

It's a weird out of memory on the OS level issue

Is it fixed?

I had another idea. Maybe my wiki page was too long?

If you ever do add display limits and character counts there are a few other places this would be good, ie. all the fields in the sub settings. I feel like there was another place but if there was I forgot.

Fixed.

Everything does have a limit at the end of the day. It's like server-side though, so you have to submit a gigantic wall of text and get an error to find out that there are limits. It would be cool to publish all of these limits somewhere I guess.

If only there was a wiki. Oh wait...

Also, while lying around anguishing and watching too many Same Of Thowns videos I also determined that after much of my writing stuff is nailed down, compelling, and solidly good enough to really delve into pre-production and production I'm going to actually need a reliable and backup-able online resource. At that point the scripts should be clear, I'm guessing you and /u/magnora7 will approve and maybe even agree with everything in them, in part because everyone will have a say on them here (and if there are disagreements I'll state my cases, etc.), and maybe you guys will be co-admins of my new wikimedia site. I intend to invite /u/Robin of WikiSpooks too. I hope there is not too much to being admin of it all, and I certainly wouldn't want you to sacrifice much for it.

I'm hoping to set it up to have different sections. For example, the Glossed And Profound productions would need certain permissions, as would the Sayer's playground for essays, blogs, images, small media (IG has a 100mb limit), etc. Another section could be for the Conspiracy Encyclopedia you hope for, though IMO WikiSpooks is already excellent at that, more or less, without the woo. I don't really see it as being ideal for yet another encyclopedia, but I love the MW powerful tools that are more powerful than HTML in countless ways.

Of course all of this could change in time. Maybe the Everipedia fork is the way to go, or SaidIt decentralizes in a whole other way. But it's something to keep in the back of your mind, say if you ever decide to /r/adopt /wp/crossover /ws/short /ig/cuts, or come across or develop other things.

I still have that list of potential wiki names for a survey when the day comes - but I added one: TIDIAS, whether as a dotnet or dotcom or some other derivative. Pronounce it how you like, "todays", "t'dais", or "tid-yes" - no matter how you spellit it's sdrawkcab.

Hahahaa

I'm down! However I can help fuck the feds is the right place for me.

Yeah, if you're happy with mediawiki and think it can accomplish your goals, then by all means yes. Now that you know CSS magic you can mold it to your needs a little better too. I hope SaidIt will decentralize someday soon, but even then, it's still a social news aggregator with lovely nested comments and a mini-wiki, it's not the best fit for everything. If you just need simple web pages/sites, you should consider WordPress. Easy plugins to show videos, nice non-html editing, etc. etc.
