The SaidIt code needs one programmer willing to dedicate at least 5 hours per week. I think this would do more for SaidIt than anything else. And it would help my /s/FreedIt project. I don't have the time to do this myself but I would be willing to help as needed.

1) How long is this gig?
2) Have you a to-do/goals list?
3) Can we fund-raise for it?
4) Is this just for FreedIt or for SaidIt (and beyond?) too?
5) Have you seen https://Projex.Wiki?
6) Is it a place to organize this project?
7) Is it worth sharing a guy across several domains?
9) Should we ask /u/Robin, admin of WikiSpooks, if he wants in?
10) Should I make local (Windsor, Ontario) inquiries for coders?

1) How long is this gig?

Indefinite. A programmer needs to take some ownership of this code. All successful open source projects have a primary developer.

2) Have you a to-do/goals list?

I have my priorities but I assume the programmer would have the final say. I think fixing search is top priority.

3) Can we fund-raise for it?

Maybe. I don't think much could be raised right now.

4) Is this just for FreedIt or for SaidIt (and beyond?) too?

It's the same code, so both.

5) Have you seen https://Projex.Wiki?

I just looked at it now.

6) Is it a place to organize this project?

Maybe, I don't know. SaidIt has a built-in wiki, inherited from Reddit. I honestly think this is stupid and the wiki should be removed and instead it should just link to external wiki. But that is something to discuss later.

7) Is it worth sharing a guy across several domains?

By "a guy", you mean the programmer? The programmer is responsible for the code, not the domains.

9) Should we ask /u/Robin, admin of WikiSpooks, if he wants in?

10) Should I make local (Windsor, Ontario) inquiries for coders?

No harm in asking anyone. I will make a serious recruitment effort this shabbat when I have time.

Search
I can't speak for M7D3, but what if we shared instances of YaCy (decentralized P2P search engine) which d3rr has already dabbled in.

Wiki

Maybe, I don't know. SaidIt has a built-in wiki, inherited from Reddit. I honestly think this is stupid and the wiki should be removed and instead it should just link to external wiki. But that is something to discuss later.

The inherited default has it's very limited uses, and I agree that an external wiki could be much better. I already started outlining ideas for bridging between sites and platforms: https://Projex.Wiki/wiki/WIP#Bridging_to_do. Not a top priority, but is certainly on my sloppy wish list that I need to organize better.

Coder
A coder could do things that you want, that M7D3 wants, and that Projex and/or WikiSpooks want. Wishes may mostly align, but priorities may not. That's what I meant.

oAuth + NextCloud
We've been talking about these as next steps. I need to powwow with my local Windsor folks about these to develop a case-use to present to d3rr, but right now many are preoccupied with Truckin Ottawa. I should also reach out to /u/Robin of WikiSpooks about this too. Have you any interest in participating? Have you ideas or opinions on these? With a Federated platform (or several) in the oAuth mix we could by extension be semi-Federated, though we'd all likely be relegated to the Deplorables' side of the tracks soon enough.

I thought you weren't supposed to work on shabbat.

I am all for supporting federation of some kind. I would look into this more if there was a programmer.

I would contribute to programming if there was a primary developer who I could ask question to. I have never done a major project in Python and I don't want to deal with the learning curve alone.

I don't have the rabbinic view of shabbat. I work for money outside of shabbat and work on nonprofit things during shabbat.

Consider finding a programmer as added to my long to-do/wish list. I'm also seeking personal assistants, production assistants, production managers, a production team, and of course funding - for my local studio.

work on nonprofit things during shabbat.

Admirable.
