You might want to look into what the "Church of Subgenius" is first. Namely a radio show... but much more than that.

I assume you've heard of the flying spaghetti monster? kinda sorta something like that.

so it's irc.taphouse.org/6697? It won't connect for me, I get an unknown host message.

Hexchat is confusing. If I type /server irc://irc.taphouse.org/subgenius in a server tab it connects but I have to put frop.taphouse.org/6697 in the saved servers network list option or I get an unknown host message.

Why can't I just put irc.taphouse.org/6697?

the / is for separating directories... you'll want to use a colon for a port number. ie.. frop.taphouse.org:6697
