tl;dr: the law says you can't kill a baby who has an obviously-beating heart. She was anxious about her problematic pregnancy and wanted to kill the baby. Instead of staying in hospital and fighting for the child this female went home and the pregnancy troubles got worse-enough that the doctors were convinced to kill the baby.
