While this may or may not be coming to a smart phone near you, the implications are a bit unsettling. This app, if successful, will predict if your emotional state is changing and how you will feel next week, according to the researchers involved. So, an individual is going to willingly surrender more personal data and privacy for better mental health. Sounds like a big win for the drug makers and the surveillance state to me.

Wouldn't this be a self fulfilling prophecy? If you tell me I'm going to be severely depressed next week, and I believe in this app, will I make choices that will in turn render me depressed?

Jeff Bezos has invested in this, and don't forget he is also getting into the healthcare business as well.

Yeah I could really see this app being self-fulfilling and encouraging a mood that wasn't really there. It seems to be that mood is super fickle already.

And how much value does it provide anyway if some app says warning you are angry or depressed today. New school astrology?

For people with no mental health issues, it provides no value at all. I can see it being harmful actually, like reading webmd and saying, "Yeah, I have that, and that..."

Apparently some mental health professionals see value. Maybe I'm being overly skeptical, but we already have a large percentage of people that have outsourced their own thoughts and beliefs. Just seems this will further that along.

It's nothing new, just normalizing what they already do. You and me just by talking publicly here just provided them with data points. There is a reason the illuminati was super secret and they didn't say their ideas on public newspapers at the time(same as internet posts of the day), well, the enemy was watching them. No difference here. Apparently high level insiders also publicly say anything bc they arenb;t worried about spies, they are worried if you believe, so you can be controlled.

That's why I've invested in the best placebos out there. My placebos are better than yours.

I do not trust Bezos either, and BTW, you're going to feel great next week. Now where did I put those pills?

Have you taken your joy pill today? We don't like downers here.

If only there was an app to remind me to take my joy pill.

I'm sure I do not touch my phone, "4,000 times a day." Yeah, typing would add up quickly, but I use voice recognition and try not to slur my words. It's just a mood ring for the not-so-new century.

good call, a mood ring
