Wow that's your defense to me enquiring about your economic theory.

Your response reveals how you engage with these fake news merchants like Tyler Durden (whose fake news cost Alex Jones a billion dollars, it bears repeating)

You clearly aren't engaging with these stories as cognitive facts about the world which you can ruminate on, or derive new theories from.

It's just another chapter in a fictional web serial you have been enjoying, a fake story you subscribe to about the downfall of the United Shitholes.

Let's watch as your brain does another hateful screetch, because it causes too much dissonance to engage with what I wrote:

Why do you think that America spending more on debt servicing means a "green light on war"?

At the end of the day. Countries borrow for good and sensible reasons.

USA could have saved up billions of its tax income for a few years and then spent it's savings on infrastructure. Then over a few years, the infra will increase America's tax yields. We could have (for example) saved up money for 5 years, built for 5 years, and then 5 years later the tax income would be higher.

Or, alternatively, USA could have borrowed on day 1, completed the building work after year 5, and then enjoyed the increased tax yields early.

So, in the first plan, America takes 15 years to make profit.

In the second plan, we're making more profit earlier, getting quicker out of debt because of the earlier access to tax yields, and overall better off.

So even stupid stories like this one (from zerohedge Tyler durden, whose fake news cost Alex Jones one billion dollars lol) don't really give a good picture for why this is a good or bad thing.

If you're running a profitable company, wouldn't you want to take a massive bank loan to expand your customer base?

You could use the huge new market to make enough money to get quickly out of debt, and the end result would be zero debt with a huge business. Compare that to if you had never taken the loan: you'd still have the small customer base and far lower turnover.

It's the same with America.

We're spending billions servicing debt on our airports and highways and ports....would America be richer today if we never took the loans and never built the highways?

Modern economics says, no, you're better off with the highways and ports.

I can get the wachowski's putting some romance in a movie, that could help it's box office, people like it no doubt. But in the first matrix it was set up oddly, trinity meets Mr. Anderson and right away they're in love, and no reason is given. Then in the sequels the nature of the matrix is never explained beyond the architect's cringe dialogue and Neo saves Trinity out of love so apparently that is the main moral of the story of the whole thing, not all the other cool philophical stuff in the movies. And that's just continued and is even more cringier in the new sequel. Fine if the whole sequence of movies is about true love conquering all, at least have better writing and acting to show the main characters have chemistry.

I've got a similar disease. Good times aren't, usually there's a nagging fucking ache, pain, or down right sanity jarring discomfort.

That little girl will grow up, and see her friends move on, and grow, and she'll be chasing the ghosts within her own body; struggling to maintain a god damn good day; one in which she hopes she can make it through without having a 'ghost' steal her positive energy.

Just wait till her dog dies; the loneliness, and torment will be there; people will pay lip service, but they honestly don't care, and actually would rather her shut up. They'll beg her to be 'happier', and get on god knows what pharmaceutical pain killer; the doctors will even encourage rather than discourage like so many others.

I guess her lessons in life will be harsh, and in many ways solitary.

I agree with everything you said! I have a cat that clearly knows quite a few words as well. But they can never know thousands of words like humans can, unfortunately due to their limited brains. My cat tries to talk too, but her annunciation is terrible because of her cat mouth lol.

I agree with what you say about "taste" in music probably being caused by this same overlap mechanism.

Here's a cat brain picture btw: https://www.catster.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/600px-Catbrain.jpg

You'll notice it doesn't have all the cortex space, so there's no lobes that can overlap in the same way like a human brain. Same goes for almost every other animal. We're lucky to have brains like this, or else we would only be able to know like 1000 words, like a gorilla. Instead we can know tens of thousands, so people can write very detailed descriptions of things that are useful long after the person who wrote them dies. Other animals can't do anything like this. I would love it if cats or dogs developed a reading/writing system, that'd be amazing.

That's a beautiful thought, thank you for taking the time to write that out. I agree with what you're saying, and see what you mean.

I suppose the one thing about human language is how specific it can be. You can never communicate the concept of a red sweater to a cow, unless there is one physically present. This "de-localization" of ideas is the main thing that sets human language apart, it seems. And if you look at a human brain, it has many more folds than a typical mammal brain. The intersection of folds on parts of the brain that are far in data/connectivity space, but close in physical proximity, results in neurons that fire together in patterns that don't necessarily go together. I think this is a useful tool that is the basis for language. But some people have extra physical overlap between brain sectors, and that results in synesthesia. Because if you look at a picture of a cat brain, it doesn't have the folds in the same way that overlap, so it can never truly make the mapping between a spoken phrase like "red sweater" and the actual red sweater. In that sense I think the cortex crossover is a bit of a superpower, and I think every human has it to some extent, and that's where the ability for language comes from. Specifically where the green part (temporal lobe, where language is stored) touches the pink part (frontal lobe) on this diagram, because those two lobes are mostly separate in function and operation but they do touch and overlap somewhat, and no other animal has that lobe-overlapping brain design feature: http://slideplayer.com/slide/4280537/14/images/1/Parietal+Lobe.jpg

Just a theory I have about synesthesia and language that I've been thinking about for a long time. I think this is the physical basis for it.

Yeah I think that's common for people with Synesthesia to feel that way. It's like being an x-men character :) Not everyone likes your oddities, but you have super powers other people don't have :)

I actually have a theory that language itself is based on synesthesia, a crossover between spoken (or written) labels, and the meaning of the idea itself. Animals seem to have trouble with this past a few hundred words, but the unique folds and layout of the human brain give it the ability to store tens of thousands of words. This is like a form of synesthesia that animals do not possess. So even though others might see it as odd, I think you yourself should regard it as a unique superpower you have :) My 2 cents

I am also hyper sensible to smell and all of my memories are linked to smells that I somehow saved as a back-up for my memories, like a dog or something.

That part sounds like synesthesia, where two senses or parts of memory are mixed with a sensory perception. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia

It makes sense that you have strong memories to smell, it's in the part of your brain that's "oldest" from an evolutionary perspective and smell is one of the oldest senses. This ends up making it very useful for memories. That's what I learned from my psychology studies anyway.

That's cool that you're unique though, that's something to be proud of I think.

That's a very interesting story. Are you sure it was pure MDMA? A lot of "ecstacy" is cut with amphetamines or other drugs, that could've been the issue, I wonder. And then maybe your friends were just acting how they thought they were supposed to act, like when you give teenagers fake beer and they think they're drunk but they're not.

It also makes sense though that certain drugs help certain people in certain mindsets. There's no "one-size-fits-all" epiphany drug, I guess haha

I had a similar experience with shrooms where I was dealing with trauma of being abused as a child through my teens years. Well I got out of that abusive household in high school but the trauma stood and I found shrooms through some friends and on Halloween his parents were out of town. We took the shrooms and about two hours later I was realizing a lot about the relationship between me and my mother and how much the divorce had fucked the whole family up and changed everyone. I started crying hysterically because I realized how much my mother still loved me and how wrong I was. I texted her immediately and told her how much I love her and I wanted this nightmare to end and she agreed wholeheartedly and we saw each other the next day, and ever since then she has had my back at the worst of times and I continue to still have the same mindset I did the day I took shrooms, I still see that perspective as clear as day. I dont think I'd be alive if it weren't for her because everybody else had given up on me when she hadn't. Sorry for the rant.

MDMA therapy is interesting because it's usually regarded as a "party drug" as compared to "more serious" drugs like psychedelics. But it looks like it's very useful for some types of therapy!

Those links seem to be about rural areas only, and it's not clear whether one family member using the toilet sometimes classifies the family as using it. I don't have a lot of time to find statistics, but this NYT article from a year and a half ago says

According to Unicef, around 564 million Indians, nearly half the population, still defecate in the open — in fields, forests, next to ponds, along highway medians and on the beach.

I'd be surprised if they've made any dramatic, lasting shifts in this in less than two years, since there is clearly a cultural element to it (people literally

There's many more questions down that path, than answers. For example; how exactly did he diagnose the goats with arthritis? I dunno.
