Thanks. Bob3 was 50% insightful and 50% asstroll whom I won't miss. Majorly bummed about Musky. Was he asking for it? Was he in a M7 meltdown death spiral who being childish won't ever step away? Seems I have some reading to do. Thanks for the links! I'll read them this eve.

Shame that Airbus troll, Chipit bot, and socks shill are still here.

American Muskrat

The muskrat is a medium-sized semiaquatic rodent native to North America and an introduced species in parts of Europe, Asia, and South America. The muskrat is found in wetlands over a wide range of climates and habitats. It has important effects on the ecology of wetlands, and is a resource of food and fur for humans.

Muskrats are non-aggressive and shy. They avoid humans and will generally flee from you if you encounter them. Like many wild animals, however, muskrats can be dangerous if you corner, startle, or antagonize them.

There are some funny results for American Muskrat.

Maybe the goal is to put a chill on commenting, so everyone left ends up walking on eggshells.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Who threw those eggshells down? Tyranny. It doesn't have to be like this. It doesn't have to be one person going it alone. It doesn't have to be one person's choice. It doesn't have to be a singular judge, jury, and executioner. These should be community choices or at least choices from authentic community representation. Will there be challenges when the community grows? Fuck ya. Deal with those, together, as they develop.

I don't know how Reddit was when they had these issues, but obviously something went wrong well before they sold out. Might have simply been the absence of decentralization, though I suspect it was a confluence of circumstances, intentional and/or not, that created the perfect storm that it's become.

It doesn't have to be, but it's the way most things work. Problems arise when there's a mismatch between the one person and the community. Ideally, the system would result in a closer match in values between members and operators, but the choices are limited.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (4 children)

but it's the way most things work

Actually, most interactions are voluntary, not by orders from above by some great decider. And even hierarchies have branches (along with checks and balances) not a one dimensional ladder with only up and down.

Yes, the choices currently are limited. This is changing. Evolving.

    [–]Zapped 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

You start another site and I'll help how I can, if only to see if it's viable in the long term. I'm sure M7 would give you pointers. Surely, there are others on here who can provide technical support. I recently met a guy who is part of a small, worldwide team that successfully put together and marketed a video game on multiple platforms. He lives a modest life and I would have no idea other than he mentioned something in conversation and I asked him for more details.

    [–]Node 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

Actually, most interactions are voluntary, not by orders from above by some great decider.

I mean more that most things like businesses, organizations, and enterprises you'd interface with are started and operated by one person, or a small group of people. They typically set standards for acceptable behavior, as one would do for people visiting their home.

The voluntary part is when you consider whether or not their standards are a match with your standards, and decline to engage if they're not. However, limited other options complicates that when your goal is interacting, because then you have to just choose the closest fit, even if there are mismatches.

One could use the freely available code to make a new reddit clone like saidit, but that's an extreme amount of work when the original goal was just to exchange comments with other people online.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

I can agree with much of that, from the perspective we're all supposed to buy into: authority.

Decentralization is the natural order of things. We're working on restoring it.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

If I thought it would help I'd start another protest. Perhaps a petition in /s/SaidItSurveys might be in order. Dare to do so at your own peril.

After my post today I'm done with the problems to focus on solutions, with or without M7.

    [–]Tom_Bombadil 4 insightful - 4 fun4 insightful - 3 fun5 insightful - 4 fun -  (1 child)

Airbus is alright. He calls it like he sees it (from where I'm sitting anyway).

I suspect he messes with you; for the same reason you were banned.

I'm glad your back, but bored of the drama.

Fucking bored of it, bro. Welcome back.

Also, are you familiar with Chris Sky?

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 2 insightful - 4 fun2 insightful - 3 fun3 insightful - 4 fun -  (0 children)

Airbus is certainly not the worst, nor dangerous like faux-progressive vaxx shill socks, nor stupid like tribal conservative dipshill Chipit. Like Bob he's been occasionally insightful - but also a stalking shit disturber, apparently immune from the wrath of M7.

I've been bored of it for some time too. Boredom has it's utility too. That said, I'm very curious how my next post will be received by everyone.

Actually, I had seriously considered for my return from banning utilizing the Chris Sky vs 30 Cops video as a comparison to myself v M7, but it was not only bad fit, a bad look, a bad comparison, too much room for confusion, too long a clip, etc etc etc. I didn't even look for better/shorter clips. I greatly appreciate his efforts and really really really hope he doesn't become a martyr. IF the powers that be are smart they can figure out a way to utilize the situation in their info-war somehow that may work for their sheeple (all they need is to maintain the majority), but with their monopoly on violence and stupidity of their muscle minions you just never know. If it does end for him (or anyone), better fast than drawn out.

    [–]Optimus85 4 insightful - 3 fun4 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 3 fun -  (8 children)

Musky got banned for a joke that didn't sit well with M7. I'm bummed as well. To the point where I won't be participating in this site anymore(not that anyone will notice). Anyway, welcome back and feel free to PM me about anything. I always appreciate your insight.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 5 insightful - 2 fun5 insightful - 1 fun6 insightful - 2 fun -  (6 children)

Must have been a very good joke. Or bad joke. Or very good bad joke. Or simply piercing to the ugly truth.

I WILL NOTICE!!! And I'm quite sure others will too! Please don't give up just yet. There's MUCH more to SaidIt than just the owner. The content and community are superlative. I have one more post and then I'm done on this front and should be in the clear thereafter. I've never held back, so to say I'm going to start filtering or censoring myself would be inaccurate. I'm just changing course, and I firmly believe you will be a critical part of that. If I had a trusted-team you'd be on it. Further, for what it's worth I will un-censor and archive my last post on my blog, not that a week old interrupted/censored discussion is worth much now. If anyone (/u/Enza ?) has access or an archive of the Musky event I can post that too. If anyone cares, I can share what DioJr shared with me too, limited as it is.

I won't say "trust the plan", but I will tell you my plans and together we can finesse them so that we can not just "build back better" but actually make a secure future for all of us. Assuming folks even want it. SaidIt has been a wonderful meeting ground and it can be a stepping stone or even a launch pad to our better future. In addition to being a forum, wiki, community, and website, SaidIt is also a utility worth utilizing until something else comes up.

    [–]Optimus85 9 insightful - 3 fun9 insightful - 2 fun10 insightful - 3 fun -  (3 children)

I'll be here for the foreseeable future but if you dissect recent event, there is fuckery afoot and a lot of conflating regular users who aren't that controversial with smear campaigns from trolls who want to discredit the site and its userbase. I think M7 needs a better perspective on things and a more balanced approach to moderation(as in apply the rules evenly for every user and stop fabricating accusations when he has no concrete evidence of wrongdoing). If he was honest with himself and his users, he would address these issues and be receptive to his users' input instead of unilaterally dropping the banhammer on those few that have irked him.

I'm grateful to him for providing this space but it's only as good as the regular contributors that post quality content. Without them, it's just pills and tech spam. That's why I'll stand idle in the meantime while this crap gets sorted out(if ever). Think of it as a silent, peaceful way of protesting.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 3 insightful - 2 fun3 insightful - 1 fun4 insightful - 2 fun -  (2 children)

    ^ THIS, A MILLION PERCENT.

Except maybe the idle part. Help organize the solutions. After my post today I'm done with the problems to focus on solutions.

    [–]Optimus85 2 insightful - 2 fun2 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 2 fun -  (1 child)

OK. Maybe not 100% idle. You might've just swayed me with your unflappable optimism. :)

If you didn’t see them already, here are the archives you’re asking for (they’re purely neutral though, it’s just an archiving of events, no negative or positive commentary associated, nor finger pointing):

Shame that Airbus troll, Chipit bot, and socks shill are still here.

It's worse than that. Dipshit is gaining m7's trust through low effort comments, reflecting m7's thoughts back to him and flattering him. It appears m7's falling for it. Here's the thread in question. What's gonna happen now? Is Dipshit going to call who is and isn't a troll, and will m7 ban people based on that? This is disconcerting.

    [–]JasonCarswell[S] 1 insightful - 2 fun1 insightful - 1 fun2 insightful - 2 fun -  (0 children)

    Thanks for the thread link.

That is just so fucking sad.

M7 feels like he's being ganged up on because he's being as dense as a brick wall - then he seeks solace in the only friendly words that come his way.

Worse is his stupid fucking "logic" that I even felt compelled to chime in on. If I was still in protest mode I'd go off on that more.

Chipit has lied repeatedly and is a stupid tribalist shill, paid or not. Not name-calling, fact-calling.
