It's "problematic" because it shames men into being men instead of being resource dumps for women to exploit. Why else did Twitch ban the term? Good for women, bad for men.

The word "simp" can pressure men to conform to traditional stereotypes of aggression and dominance, while objectifying women as transactional, says Abigail Riemer, an assistant professor of psychology at Carroll University.

Really now? The problem with what can be considered 'traditional stereotypes of aggression and dominance' vary by culture. For example, hunting is traditionally a male activity. As is drinking alcohol. Which one of these is more widely practiced today?
There have been people who could have been considered simps throughout history, from peasants to emperors. This behaviour is a good indicator of the persons critical thinking skills i.e. They have none.
