Does anyone know much about this organization? I saw them linked on Ovarit, but they haven't had much media presence. I thought maybe they would be interviewed after the election, make themselves more known, but it doesn't seem like it. I think the organization is a great idea, but it's dispiriting that all the major players seem to be using pseudonyms. Has anyone joined? It seems to me like they need a louder presence if they are going to accomplish anything.

The name of the the org - "Democrats for an Informed Approach to Gender" - made me initially think and hope that it's "gender critical" in a broad sense, meaning it would be challenging the Democratic Party on the lunancy and harms of its misnomered Equality Act and Biden's misogynistic overhaul of Title IX, as well as opposing Democratic Party-backed policies and practices that promote the teaching of gender identity ideology in US publicly-funded schools; allow males to "identify into" female sports and spaces; permit people born in the US to change the sex markers on their official ID documents including their birth certificates in many jurisdictions; and insure that anyone who tries to discuss and debate these topics in earshot or sight of anyone representing the Democratic Party establishement will immediately be silenced, shamed and branded a hateful bigot, transphobe, homophobe, right-winger, Republican, Trumper, Nazi, uninformed idiot and horrible meanie who's intent on picking on and persecuting people who not only are a "a tiny minority," but a tiny minority who supposedly are "the most marginalized" and "most vulnerable" people in US society and on planet earth.

But the material on the DIAG website shows its focus is much more narrow than that, namely 1) "exposing the failures of gender medicine" and 2) supporting "a safer, saner, evidence-based response to gender distress."

The headings and straplines on the website:

DIAG: DEMOCRATS FOR AN INFORMED APPROACH TO GENDER

SHIFTING THE NARRATIVE

Exposing the failure of gender medicine

The org's Mission statement and Goals:

MISSION STATEMENT For too long, the harms of the gender-transition industry have been hidden behind rhetoric. DIAG is an organization of lifelong democratic voters working to depoliticize and shed light on this ideologically-driven medical scandal. We’re building a movement to shift the prevailing narrative around these experimental, dangerous medical practices that comprise “gender-affirming care” (sex-trait modification) and clear the path for a safer, saner, evidence-based response to gender distress.

GOALS

Create a large coalition of Democrats (and those who have recently unaffiliated), who are deeply concerned about our Democratic representatives’ willful ignorance and silence in the face of the destructive effects of sex-trait modification (STM) — euphemistically known as “gender-affirming care” — and the large-scale promotion of gender-identity ideology.

Demonstrate that there is a growing movement of Democrats who are critical of gender-identity ideology and STM, and that these criticisms are based on child safeguarding and science, not bigotry and ignorance.

Increase our Democratic representatives‘ and candidates’ understanding of STM to shift their support away from experimental medical intervention and the “affirmation” model toward exploratory therapy.

Develop a public health campaign to reach target audiences, providing evidence-based information about “gender-affirming care.”

From this information, DIAG is not an org that I'd get involved with personally. I think there are other already-established orgs such as SEGM, Partners for Ethical Care and GenSpect that have been around for longer which effectively make the case against "gender medicine" - and those orgs have the benefit of being politically non-partisan. Moreover, since DIAG is explicitly for "Democrats and those who have recently unaffiliated," I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have me even if I wanted to join, as I broke with the Democratic Party and registered as an Independent far too long ago to meet their criteria.

But that's just my take.

Thanks. Yeah, I noticed they seem to focus on child medicalization, even though they do say they have a broader focus on gender ideology as a whole. I'm still registered Democrat, but I'm not really a political person, so I'm not sure that I'd join. I hope they become more well known, but that's going to entail having people willing to use their real names and appear on CNN or Fox or other networks as themselves.
