Nigel is a common UK name. It just means a common guy. Nigel isn't really common in the USA, so if the meme was based on the USA it would be "Brad."

Alliteration is catchy. The name is not significant. It’s not chad or whatever because that brings to mind a particular type of man, not any man.

It’s a quick summary of a larger idea, wherein women are asked why they come to the defense of their husbands/sons/fathers/brothers when they do something misogynistic.
