One tactic that trans activists really like is to use words in new ways or to appropriate phrases and slogans from other movements. What I propose is we do it back.
For example: transmisogyny
Your average person who is unfamiliar with the gender wars might have some confusion about the meaning of this word. Let's add to that confusion! Julie Serrano supposedly coined the term in his book "Whipping Girl", defining it as the type of intersectional bigotry experienced by transwomen (similar to the term misogynoir for black women). But as many people have pointed out, homophobia of one type or another is to blame for the majority of bad reactions transwomen experience. I suggest we use transmisogyny instead to mean the particular type of misogyny directed at women by trans activists/identified people. Even if we can't totally change the meaning for everyone, we can at least muddy the waters.
Another one: HRT
Hormone replacement therapy is not a very accurate description for taking cross-sex hormones. Instead we should call it Hormone Substitution or something like that. Regardless of what we call it, it should be more accurate than HRT.
AFAB/AMAB
These terms have been co-opted from Intersex activism. When a human (or other mammal) is born, it's either Observed Female, Observed Male or Observed Ambiguous. It may be that the observation is in error (a female-appearing baby could develop unmistakably male genitals at puberty, as an example, or genetic testing determines the ambiguous genitals belong to an XY male). However, unless the genitals are surgically altered, they are not "assigned" in any meaningful sense of the word.
Another one:
So, "transwomen are women", but WHEN do they become women? If they always were women, why do they need to transition socially, hormonally or surgically? If they become women at some point in their transition, what is the distinguishing line? After genital surgery? After hormone therapy? After wearing makeup? After wearing a dress? After watching sissy hypno porn? After they put she/her/hers pronouns in their profile? After they change their birth certificate? Surely there is something we can point to as being the line. And if not, surely TW are NOT actually W.
I have more, but this is getting long. Do you have other suggestions?
