A chemist is someone who understands the rules and behaviors of matter on a deep level, not just how individual chemicals react with each other.

Likewise, the only way to truly protect your children from foolishness is to teach them to be wise in a general sense, not just individual examples of wise beliefs.

But aside from that, I would convince a child of something in pretty much the same way that I would convince an adult of something. With reasonable, fair points. Is there someone who you know to be reasonable/not gullible/open-minded/able to think clearly about politically touchy topics? Imagine what you would say to them to convince them.

I often see people who weight arguments as strong that I don't think are that strong. With that in mind, I advise you to be self-critical and really think hard about whether your argumentation is well-formed. Don't just speak off the top of your head.

There are a lot of guidelines for how to think and communicate clearly and effectively, I can't really list them all here.
