“Why can’t I wear a dress to church like Grace?” she asked at age four.

Just let him wear it... honestly. You're gonna try to change the laws just so you don't have to explain to your kid why sports are sex-segregated? I don't want to hear a damn thing about him "not being allowed to participate in sports". Just play with the rest of the boys and continue cheerleading. When I was in high school, cheer was not sex-segregated, it's just that very few boys join. Stories of "trans kids" make me sick. Everyone is lying to this little boy. If only he (or the adults who are responsible for him) had the capacity/care to understand how royally they are gonna fuck this kid over if they "transition" him hormonally and surgically.

Why even sex-segregate it? My understanding is they can do a lot more complicated routines with the boys able to lift the girls.

Yeah, there's no need to, as the different teams never make contact with one another.

Well us girls do lift each other lol. At the higher level, when the males grow up and become larger, there are some pretty cool stunts that they can do with only one man and one woman, while usually for stunts, there are two or three women lifting another woman. This really isn't possible with high-school aged boys, though. We tried it once with our smallest flyer (hadn't hit puberty because of severe anorexia, sad, but my point is she was extremely tiny and delicate, really almost childlike body) and the guy just couldn't do it. He was pretty average-sized.

Fair enough, I'm no expert on it. Just doesn't make sense to have two groups when they're going to be on the same field and none of requires competition between them.

Agreed.

The US literally had a president who was a male cheerleader in college. while he was dodging the draft. and his supporters called his opponent in one election a 'metro-sexual' and they mocked his opponent in the previous election's primary who was a veteran (and a monster, but they were cool with that). Now that I've said that, they will declare GW Bush the first trans president like they declared Stormie De(I'm not even going to try to spell the rest of her name) to be trans.

It's so absurd, I lived through the "dubbya" years. It's why I tuned out so much of the 'Orange hitler man bad' nonsense and didn't lose my mind like so many Democrats - been there, done that. They called GW a nazi, and Hitler, he was going to bring about WW3... hell, I had a bumper stick that I'm mildly embarrassed thinking about now: "Why change horsemen mid-apocalypse" as a criticism to voting for him for a second term. And now it seems like the media and left love him? Give me a break. I'm not dumb enough to support their crap anymore.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if they did declare him the first trans president. Seems mild compared to all the history they're already rewriting.

So many red flags here. Note the references to church going. I assume this is a conservative religious family that imposes strict gender roles on their kids.

When Maddie was two years old, she loved nothing more than to parade around in the teacher’s high heel shoes at Sunday School. Maddie played with her older sister’s toys and dressed up in her clothes. At the playground, Maddie’s mother, Katie, watched her child run right past the boys for the huddle of little girls. All of Maddie’s friends were girls.

When I was Maddie's age, I never wore high heels. I hated dolls, and I wasn't fond of dresses. All my friends were boys.

“Why can’t I wear a dress to church like Grace?” she asked at age four.

This would have been the time to say "Sure, you can!" I wonder if 'Maddie' saw his female sibling getting preferential treatment and pathologized the idea of being a boy.

With her husband still skeptical, Katie found a therapist who evaluated Maddie and noted that the five-year-old never wavered in her beliefs. This wasn’t a phase.

It's always the mothers driving this, dammit. FFS 'this wasn't a phase'? The kid was five! Wait a year or five, maybe? You're nowhere near puberty.

Right? A lot of kids that age believe unwaveringly that Santa exists because their parents secretly prepared them presents with a "From Santa" card on it.

Any legislator with half a brain would just have replied "come back in three years when puberty sets in and Maddie is crushing home runs left right and backwards. Maybe then you'll see the point of this law."

Trotting out small kids is really, really low imo. An 8 year old girl can play with 8 year old boys, it isn't an issue. Fast forward 10 years and mediocre 18 year old guys are crushing elite 18 year old gals at sports. I wonder why that is the case ?

How did the news crew get wind of the fact that there was a trans kid in school on day one of the new year ?

…they do realize pretty much all cheer squads are already co-ed? Having a guy with more upper body strength is useful for some lifts. (Source: my sister competed in cheer from middle school to graduation.) This comparison is not even remotely the same thing as a guy being on the softball or girl’s basketball team.

The future is bleak.
