The court said the policies “do not involve an unjustified or disproportionate intrusion with the [Human Rights Act] Convention rights of women prisoners.”

So it's okay to put a male rapist into women's prison.

Crazy world.

The claimant was arguing for trans women to be treated less favourably than non-trans women in the context of prison policy.

BS!

From another source:

Ultimately, whilst “the Claimant’s concerns were understandable”, Lord Justice Holroyde accepted the Defendant’s argument that there is “a margin of discretion” in striking the appropriate balance of competing rights.

And Men’s right to sex and to harass trumps any rights any woman may think she has. (I wish I were being sarcastic)

For a straight man, being in a prison where the women vastly outnumber the men is like heaven on Earth. What this policy will do is incentivize men to establish themselves as "trans" shortly before committing a crime and turning themselves in to the police.

The female prisons will be at least 20% male within 10 years.

I don't think they have to even bother establishing a "trans" identity before committing crimes, don't plenty of them claim it after they're already locked up and then demand deference and transfer? Or between being caught and being locked up, so they can get more lenient sentences.

What do you mean, "before"?

Well, not all jurisdictions that allow men in women's prisons will allow the men to declare "trans-ness" after getting caught or turning themselves in. I just went with the more catch-all case.
