CHILD MARRIAGE...CONSENSUAL?

New York legislators are considering a bill backed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo to raise the age to 17, from the current minimum, 14.

Opponents argue...where are they to lower the legal voting age to 13? They are SO supportive of girl's choice to belong to a man at 13...where are they pushing for 13 year olds to choose the next legislators? I have a hard time understanding "consent" in this context when they have no rights. They can't vote, can't enter into contracts, can't hold a bank account in their own name, can't manage their own money (by law), and are in adult custody. THEY ARE IN CUSTODY; they are legally under the control of one or more adults. How exactly are they in the position to consent or not consent to anything?? It makes no sense. It's like a man in state custody, serving a life sentence, consensually being transferred from one prison to another...how is the prisoner able to be transferred consensually? It makes no sense in this context. God, seriously...I think I need to start a Youtube channel called "male logic". It would be such a great comedy.

Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, vetoed the bill last May, saying it created a "does not comport with the sensibilities and, in some cases, the religious customs, of the people of this state."

People need to be taught how to argue what is a general morally good tradition to keep and what is one that needs to be stopped immediately. Culture and religion be damned if it's going to force a child into a position where they are more likely to be abused and disenpowered either through financial, educational means etc.
