This is bad. Why aren't people more worried about mass surveillance?

Why aren't people more worried about mass surveillance

I have Chinese friends and they tell me they feel so safe in China. They swear there is no street crime and they can walk alone at midnight, all thanks to the safety of cameras everywhere.

I told them I'm sure you do have crime, but it's not reported. The government controls all media, so there is no outlet to report it. You have the illusion of safety. One friend entertained that possibility, but the others all said no, China is totally safe thanks to cameras. This is how they sold us on the TSA searching elderly people's adult diapers and scanning us naked: it's for safety.

The quote attributed to Ben Franklin (I'm paraphrasing):

"Those who give up freedom for security soon have neither."

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." ― Benjamin Franklin

With respect, IMO, he was referencing the responsibility of choices/actions with consequences. I'm in full agreement with Mr Franklin.

Thanks for finding the real quote! I read that quote a lot in the days after Sept. 11, when the US Congress was trying to shove the atrocious Patriot Act through. We never learn.

The Democratic founder stated, "Our organization will be focused on making America’s high-tech future bright, fair, and inclusive for all Americans.”

Given what we have seen of Big Tech and Democrats' idea of inclusivity thus far, I imagine gender ideology will be a big part of their vision.

I feel like we're rapidly headed for some sort of global dystopia, where the 0.001% and Our Tech Overlords are going to treat the rest of us like ants beneath their feet.

There will probably be some massive kill off of who they consider Useless Eaters and/or they further warp reality so that the generations to come will live almost completely online as genderless avatars, only useful as consumers.

Or who knows? But, IMO, this push to eradicate biological sex legally has something much more sinister behind it.

I feel we are all going to be living in a Black Mirror episode soon, which for women will be combined with The Handmaid's Tale (that is if The Powers That Be let women live instead of use artificial wombs)

They want to sell women's bodies in parts and pieces. They'd love to sell us via hooker-apps, guarantee it. Same goes for children. Older people are also on their "useless eater" list as well. Notice how as soon as you hit 40, you get tons of geriatric ads.

It seems like it, doesn't it, with the "sex work is work," surrogacy, hook-up culture, and now a prominent former gay org trying to lower the age of sexual consent worldwide?

COVID sure took out a big chunk of the elderly and people with less than perfect health. Maybe that (or the refusal to take immediate and effective steps to save them) was part of the plan?

I keep getting pop-ups for "Attention seniors born before 1970!" Well, you would have to be born well before 1970 to be a "senior" unless they mean high school seniors! But it shows a photo of someone clearly around 80.

We can kiss the WH, Senate and House goodbye then.

At this point, I feel it's safe to say tech owns our government. Even if we voted everyone who supported this out, they'd still win their seats back.
