The answer to this question is: coz reddit is run by and for men. Like most social media and most of the world.

I'm in that post! FatBlackKat. I mentioned white men on Reddit fetishizing black men too. Or black people in general. Jimmy Kimmel (who once did blackface) had the audacity to ask Michelle Obama did she have sex with Barack after Osama bin Laden was assassinated. THE DISRESPECT. Laura Bush, nor Hillary Clinton, nor Barbara Bush would've been asked a question like that.

OMG, Kimmel is so disgusting in that clip. How is he not cancelled? I can't imagine a public figure asking Bess Truman if she gave Harry a BJ after the US dropped the atom bombs "Little Boy" and "Fat Man" on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

There is something very sick, creepy & reminiscent of the "I love the smell of Napalm in the morning" to Kimmel's schtick here. https://youtu.be/bPXVGQnJm0w https://youtu.be/Jts9suWIDlU https://youtu.be/k26hmRbDQFw

But why is Michelle Obama laughing along with this rather than calling Kimmel out? She should've taken her cue from when Lily Tomlin walked off the set of the Dick Cavett show in 1972 coz another guest said something disgustingly misogynistic:

Honestly naked men's bodies just aren't that aesthetically pleasing to look at. Like Playgirl magazine for example is just so much... I don't know... non-hotness. I get more turned on watching rusty antique restoration videos on youtube. Here's a disembodied pair of man's hands sandblasting rust off an old axe head... here's a disembodied pair of man's hands turning a new screw in a metal lathe... Here's a brief glimpse of a man's broad shoulders as he hangs powder-coated parts in the curing cabinet...

Lol... I would agree that men doing things tends to be more attractive than men standing there being naked. But naked male bodies that are fit, especially if the man also has an attractive face - they can be very hot.

There's also a fairly long tradition of media made by and aimed at gay males that is all about admiring and ogling male bodies. Mapplethorpe, Tom of Finland and so on. But this media is not predominant in the world at large coz most of the world's inhabitants are not gay males, and most of the men who run the world are not gay either.

However, in certain sectors - such as fashion/clothes design, cosmetics, hair styling and photography - there's a longstanding tradition of gay males focusing on female bodies - examining, fetishizing, idealizing, drawing, painting, photographing, designing for, making up, styling, curating, fussing over, dressing up and undressing female bodies.

And there's always been a certain segment of the gay male population - transvestites, drag queens, HSTS & today's same-sex attracted "trans" males - who are totally focused on studying, imitating, wishing for, impersonating, parodying, envying and coveting female bodies.

Now with the normalization of surrogacy, many bog standard gay males also think it's their human right to be able to access/rent female bodies to gestate and give birth to children for them, and to provide them with eggs too.

People are obsessed with evaluating women's bodies, even making a hobby out of it.

The same reason there are tons of magazines with naked women's bodies and a looot less with naked men's bodies.

What makes reddit worse is that there, men have the opportunity to post, share and edit pornographic material on their own. If they had to tell their friends or family "I work for playboy" they'd get nasty looks. But being anonymous online, nobody asks questions, they can let the worst of their inner side run free.

Because men are boring and ugly.

I think kpop is a very interesting phenomenon to look at, when talking about the sexualization or even, perhaps, objectification of male bodies. I'm young enough to have been exposed to the hype of kpop, when it first started spreading to the west a few years ago, and I admit that I had a bit of a cultural shock in the beginning. Prior to kpop, I had never seen men depicted like that in videos or on stage (or anywhere). The outfits, the dance moves, the styles and looks, it all felt like they were built with a female audience in mind. There's a lot of lip biting, hip gyrating, almost erotic dancing (not to mention the so called "skinship" between the male members of the group), and I find it very fascinating, because I don't think there's any western male celebrity out there who is catering to the "female gaze" like that.

Also, the guys in kpop seem to be going through the same extreme cosmetic procedures that are expected of women around the world. Most of them are hairless, their skin is soft and flawless looking, they wear lots of makeup, etc. And, while that isn't something every straight woman is going to be into, their rising popularity among teenage girls and young women seems to indicate that there is, actually demand for stuff like that. Women also want to see hot guys strike sexy poses, while half naked, but it's just not something the western industry is interested in producing. Not sure why, though.

I would also like to point that, while I understand the appeal of kpop, I think it's a highly exploitative industry, and I'm not sure I'd want to see it replicated in the west.

Yes, I agree, K-pop communities are an ACTUAL example of the sexualization of men (Some MRAs claimed it's common in the West, no it's not, only women are objectified here)

[–]supersmokio6420 3 insightful - 1 fun3 insightful - 0 fun4 insightful - 1 fun -  (1 child)

Surely its a simple lack of demand as much as anything else?

Somehow I can't imagine there being many subovarits dedicated to naked men on Ovarit, and that's a female-exclusive platform.

I know that's there greater demand, but what really is weird is that they judge and compare women's bodies even if they're very attractive. I guess men are really competitive.

What is going on with TwoX these days? It was inundated with trans posts for a while, and it seems that's passed, but it has the rainbow banner as though its a TQ sub.

It IS a TQ sub.
