"r/ArrestedCanadaBillC16" is a joke subreddit dedicated to posting a weekly tally of people arrested for using the "wrong gender pronoun" since the passing of Bill C-16. This was something that Jordan Peterson warned would happen, but the running joke is that every week it stands at zero.

This week with the arrest of Robert Hoogland for contempt of court, the count is still "zero", and the weekly post tries to deflect that his arrest has nothing to do with Bill C-16. I would argue that it very much does.

It's technically true that the court order which Mr. Hoogland was found in contempt of was issued in a Provincial Supreme Court, independently of C-16, but the substance of what he is objecting to—and why he is in jail—is precisely because of what he is being demanded to say or not say. Just because C-16 wasn't used at the time doesn't mean we shouldn't be even more concerned about it now.

Peterson commented about it today as well:

Listen, you. Of course this degenerated into a contempt of court issue. That is exactly how Bill C16 will be finally enforced in the most extreme cases. Like this one. So don't pretend it's really about something else.

The cult denial that this is even remotely related is unbelievable: The court ordered Mr. Hoogland to call his 14-year old daughter by male pronouns, to only allow the state to groom her, and to not tell anyone that this is what they were doing. Of course he had to tell, if he had any integrity.
